BUILDING BRIGHTER FUTURES

The Cleveland Board of Education adopted the Building Brighter Futures (BBF) initiative on December 9, 2025. Building Brighter Futures is a strategic and data-driven plan shaped by more than a year of community engagement, information analysis, and thoughtful deliberation. The goal of this plan is to strengthen enrollment and ensure scholars attend a newer school building that offers more educational opportunities, including algebra in the eighth grade, more sports and extracurricular activities, and college credits and college and career pathways in high school. BBF is ensuring academic excellence so every CMSD scholar can thrive.

Compensation: $ 54,920.00 - $ 76,888.00

The outstanding Humanware Partner collaborates with the staff in a portfolio of schools to support Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices of each site. The role is a versatile position that provides the employee with the opportunity to advance his/her leadership in the field of SEL while serving as a key contributor to the success of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work extensively with building principals in all schools as a SEL support, particularly in the Humanware partner’s assigned network(s)
  • Work with the building leadership team to connect the needs of the students and school with appropriate Humanware initiatives
  • In addition to the Humanware partner’s work with schools, he/she will lead various SEL Department’s initiatives with District wide implementation such as: PATHS, Second Step, Student Support Teams, School-based Mental Health, etc.
  • Collaborate with Deans of Engagement, Planning Center Instructional Aides, and SEL Coordinators to assess and address unique needs of the Humanware partner’s assigned schools
  • Seek and identify both internal and external SEL resources that meet the mission and goals of CMSD
  • Ensure that the resources provided to scholars, staff, and families are evidence-based and effective in helping students reach their learning goals
  • Plan, design, and lead professional development sessions for District personnel as well as community partners around such topics as Trauma Informed Care, Healing Centered Engagement, Educator Wellness, SEL Academic Integration, CASEL’s Five Core Competencies, Transformative SEL, Adult SEL, etc.
  • Provide leadership, support, and growth opportunities for all school team members
  • Support evidenced-based, District provided SEL Curriculum in each assigned school
  • Observe and coach paraprofessionals, teachers, and administrators on the implementation and fidelity of Social and Emotional Learning programming and strategies
  • Maintain internal resource information to promote available opportunities for the schools
  • Conduct regular check-in meetings with the principals of his/her network schools to review goals and progress of overall school SEL goals
  • Conduct regular check-in meetings with the Executive Director of Humanware to ensure proper support of his/her network schools
  • Attend monthly network meeting to inform principals of upcoming Humanware activities
  • Identify needs and develop solutions using data analysis
  • Function as a thought partner to District stakeholders
  • Stay current on best practices around SEL
  • Collaborate and build a dedicated team approach with Humanware colleagues
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with the Academic Department staff and other CMSD colleagues
  • Crosswalk with other CMSD departments to provide families, schools, students, and educators a feeling of being safe and supported in their journey of joyful learning
  • Model and support equity and inclusive best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or other related areas required; Master’s degree preferred
  • A strong service and support orientation towards schools
  • A working understanding of Restorative Practices is preferred
  • Experience with data analysis in an applied setting
  • Collaboration skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings, provide professional development, identify key outcomes, and follow through on commitments in a timely manner
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to effectively respond to urgent school or student needs while also executing important commitments
  • Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies, classroom, and behavior management strategies, and available supports for students of all disability types
  • Knowledge and understanding of the core competencies of Social Emotional Learning
  • Successful classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Coaching/leadership experience preferred
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are needed
  • Motivated and can work independently while maintaining a growth mindset
