Description
The Senior Transportation Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision and oversight of assigned transportation/roadway design and construction projects. This position includes providing supervision and/or management to staff members on assigned projects.
Requirements
- Review project proposals and plans to determine project requirements, schedules, funding limitations and procedures for accomplishing the project.
- Establish project priorities, work plan and staffing for project in conjunction with management.
- Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure that standards, schedules and budgets are met.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, engineers, and other project personnel.
- Visit project sites as necessary to observe progress, resolve issues, and meet with project personnel.
- Provide regular communication and reports to management, clients, and other parties.
- Assist in preparation of business proposals and project documentation.
- Train and mentor other engineers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. or higher in Civil Engineering or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- 15+ years of experience as a transportation engineer, including roadway design and highway construction projects
- Previous successful management of major road construction projects, including direct supervision of personnel
- Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills
- Ability to provide oversight of engineering design and construction in compliance with professional standards and guidelines
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must have an insurable driving record and be able to drive to job sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication, management, and problem-solving skills
- Previous transportation engineering or project management on DOT projects
- Previous engineering consulting experience
- Previous planning, design and management of transportation construction projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage and provide oversight to multiple active projects in different phases of construction
- Ability to effectively motivate, supervise and mentor employees
Work Environment:
Office environment with computer work station. Moderate noise level. Some travel to construction sites and field offices.
