Description
1) JOB SUMMARY
To provide technical and clinical support in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory by assisting cardiologists in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality patient care in accordance with KPJ Healthcare policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
2) JOB DESCRIPTION
Clinical Services:
Assist cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures including Coronary Angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), Pacemaker Implantation, Electrophysiology (EP) Studies, and related procedures.
Prepare patients, equipment, and consumables prior to procedures.
Operate and monitor haemodynamic monitoring systems, ECG monitoring systems, and Cath Lab imaging equipment.
Monitor patient physiological parameters throughout procedures and report abnormalities promptly.
Assist in patient recovery and post-procedure care as required.
Equipment & Inventory Management:
Ensure Cath Lab equipment is operational, calibrated, and maintained according to established standards.
Perform routine equipment checks and report any malfunction immediately.
Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of consumables and medical devices.
Ensure proper handling and storage of equipment and supplies.
Patient Safety & Quality:
Adhere to infection prevention and control policies.
Comply with radiation protection and safety requirements.
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management activities.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, Malaysian healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of procedures and patient records.
Assist in data collection, statistics reporting, and quality indicators for the Cath Lab.
Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information at all times.
Professional Development
Participate in continuing professional education, training, and competency assessments.
Attend departmental meetings, in-service training, and hospital programs.
Support departmental initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
On-Call Duties
Participate in the Cath Lab on-call roster and respond promptly to emergency cardiac procedures.
Provide support for emergency Primary PCI and other urgent cardiac interventions.
3) JOB REQUIREMENT
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Cardiac Technology, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Medical Assistant, or equivalent recognized qualification.
Minimum 1–2 years working experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory is preferred.
Fresh graduates with relevant clinical exposure may be considered.
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is an added advantage.
Knowledge of cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Knowledge of haemodynamic monitoring and Cath Lab equipment.
Understanding of radiation safety and infection control practices.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to perform under pressure during emergency situations.
