Description
The hiring salary for this position is $82,638 annually; full salary range for this position is $82,638 - $142,355 annually.
- Responsible for the successful operation of multiple networked and telecommunications systems;
- Ensure sound security setup, user profiles, backup and recovery policies are documented and enforced for all software applications;
- Provides recommendations to the Division Manager regarding improvements for assigned applications;
- Responsible for the planning, analysis, design, installation and maintenance of software applications and periodic software updates;
- Monitors the daily operations of applications and related programs;
- Acts as a liaison for St. Mary’s County Government for end user requests submitted to the Help Desk for software application reported problems;
- Works with other Information Technology personnel to resolve network and desktop related issues that inhibit or impede access to software applications;
- Provides support for reports generation and data manipulation for all applications;
- Research technical hardware and software related improvements to determine feasibility, cost, requirements, and benefits;
- Provides project milestones and status reports to the Division Manager for all software efforts;
- Coordinates with and provides training to tier 1 support staff (Helpdesk and Network) all system enhancements to ensure continuity of operations for users;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to gain advanced knowledge of St. Mary’s County Government policies and procedures;
- Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary’s County Government to the public;
- Advanced knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of administrative management, and the ability to interpret them to the staff and the public;
- Extensive knowledge of system operations;
- Ability to supervise, plan, and coordinate the work of diverse staff in order to accomplish departmental goals and objectives;
- Ability to review, evaluate, and initiate appropriate action on technical and legal reports, contracts, and documents concerning departmental matters;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county officials, associates, subordinates, representatives from other agencies, and the general public;
- Knowledge of electronic resources, including the Internet and database information retrieval;
- Ability to operate relevant computer systems, including hardware and software, and office machines.
- Associates degree or certification in a network operating system;
- Three years or more experience in information systems technology with at least one year in the area of system administration;
- Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass extensive background investigation with favorable results;
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test;
- Valid driver’s license;
- This position is designated 'essential personnel' when required.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Limited strenuous physical demands, which may include, but are not limited to, lifting monitors, CPUs, and printers up to 60 pounds. May need to access tight spaces. Must be physically fit to respond quickly to user demand and keep up with fast paced environment.
May perform manual work involving walking over rough, uneven terrain, repeated bending, climbing, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or, handling of light boxes and tools as well as moderately heavy equipment or materials from 30 to 60 pounds. Must also have the physical ability to push/pull, squat, twist and turn. Requires continual sitting, standing or walking of 60%+ of the time.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices or meeting rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls.
