ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Coordinate the organization, staffing and operational activities for assigned volunteer programs including managing, recruiting and coordinating the expansion of volunteers; managing service projects and providing services for older adults with opportunities for social inclusion, skills development, learning opportunities and improved health and well-being while continuing to age.
- Coordinate, develop, and monitor community engagement and impact, member training, recognition and data tracking; expand community support for volunteer programs; coordinate, plan and attend community events that solicit targeted populations, including retirees and nearing retirees.
- Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities; recommend and implement resulting policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identify resource funding, needs and opportunities; review with appropriate management staff; implement improvements.
- Manage, coordinate and review the work plan for assigned services; assign work activities and projects; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work product, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Establish partnerships with other nonprofit community organizations to develop opportunities for members to engage in community volunteer services.
- Oversee and participate in job training program activities; monitor participation with various agencies; initiate and enhance collaboration and coordination among community groups and organizations.
- Oversee the administration and fiscal analysis of grants and contracts related to the Senior Affairs volunteer programs; monitor service delivery systems and operations to ensure compliance with Federal, State, City and Department goals policies and regulations; maintain records; prepare and present statistical reports as required.
- Select, train, motivate and evaluate program personnel and volunteer staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
- Participate in the development and administration of assigned budget; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; recommend adjustments as necessary.
- Provide staff assistance to assigned management staff; participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
- Represent the assigned volunteer programs to other divisions, departments, and elected officials and outside agencies; coordinate assigned activities with those of other divisions, departments and outside agencies and organizations.
- Serve as a liaison for the division, department or City with other City departments, division, the general public and outside agencies; coordinate, negotiate, resolve sensitive and controversial issues.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the fields of social services or gerontology.
- Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information regarding various programs for older adults.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Liberal Arts, Communications or Journalism, or a related field; and
Five (5) years of program management experience; and
To include two (2) years of supervisory experience
Experience in grant-funded programs and program development for the elderly preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.Environmental:
Office environment; exposure to computer screens.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
