DIRECTOR OF ROOMS
Luxury Vessel • At Sea • USD $14,000 per month + 25% Bonus
We are searching for a Director of Rooms for a luxury private vessel operating at sea. This is a senior shipboard leadership role overseeing all Rooms division operations including Front Office, Housekeeping, Spa, Guest Services, and Retail. The role operates on a rotational 4-months-on, 2-months-off schedule and is suited to an experienced luxury hospitality leader who is equally comfortable at sea as they are in a world-class hotel environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Direct and oversee all Rooms division departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Spa, Guest Services, and Retail
- Partner with the Yacht General Manager and leadership team on strategic and operational decisions
- Supervise department heads and ensure thorough communication and timely resolution of all guest and crew matters
- Ensure service and quality standards are consistently met across all areas of responsibility
- Handle guest complaints and interactions with the highest level of professionalism, resolving issues promptly
- Develop personalized relationships with returning guests and group contacts to elevate the guest experience
- Monitor and control labor and divisional expenses; maintain annual budget for the Rooms division
- Work with shoreside Sales and Marketing teams on occupancy strategy and business forecasting
- Support crew development, training, and career growth initiatives within the Rooms division
WHAT YOU BRING
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of leadership experience across diverse operational roles in luxury hotels and/or aboard luxury cruise vessels
- Previous shipboard experience as Chief Purser, Director of Operations, or Associate Hotel Manager is strongly preferred
- Must have yacht or cruise ship experience
- Deep knowledge of Rooms operations, guest experience standards, and luxury service delivery
- Strong business acumen including budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, and financial reporting
- Fluent in English; proficiency in one or more additional languages is a strong advantage
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills across a diverse international crew
- Proficient in MS Office and hotel management software systems
- Adaptable, proactive, and able to perform under pressure in a constantly evolving environment
WHAT'S OFFERED
- USD $14,000 per month for 8 months onboard (USD $112,000 per year)
- Performance bonus of up to 25%
- Rotational schedule: 4 months on / 2 months off
