Summary:
In the role of Custom Software Engineering Lead, a typical day involves overseeing the technical vision and architectural framework of bespoke software projects. This position requires guiding teams through the entire lifecycle of software development, from initial design concepts to final delivery. The role emphasizes establishing and maintaining high standards for development practices, ensuring that solutions are scalable, performant, and aligned with the strategic goals of the organization. Collaboration with various stakeholders to drive innovation and continuous improvement is a key aspect of daily activities.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Set the technical direction, target architecture and engineering standards for multiple delivery teams, balancing strategic modernization with reliable incremental delivery.
- Architect and deliver Java and Spring-based distributed platforms and microservices for high-volume, latency-sensitive, production-critical workloads.
- Decompose legacy or monolithic systems into well-defined domain services, with clear service boundaries, API contracts, data ownership and migration sequencing.
- Design event-driven workflows using Kafka, Solace, IBM MQ or comparable messaging platforms, selecting patterns appropriate to throughput, ordering, consistency and recovery needs.
- Implement distributed transaction and recovery patterns including Saga, transactional Outbox, retry, replay, compensation and dead-letter handling.
- Build reusable platform capabilities for exception handling, routing, transformation, security, observability, configuration and horizontal scaling.
- Ensure message processing is idempotent and resilient to redelivery, partial failure, dependency degradation and downstream outages.
- Lead performance engineering, capacity planning and tuning across application, messaging, database and infrastructure layers.
- Establish automated contract, integration, replay, concurrency and failure-path testing practices, and strengthen release confidence through production-like validation.
- Conduct architecture and design reviews, document trade-offs and decisions, and mentor technical leads and engineers across several teams.
- Introduce agentic AI and retrieval-augmented generation capabilities into operational and software-development workflows, with trusted grounding, guardrails and appropriate human approval.
- Partner with operations, cybersecurity, risk, data and business stakeholders in regulated environments where reliability, traceability and controlled change are essential.


Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Jakarta EE.
- Must have advanced Java experience, preferably Java 17 or Java 21.
- Must have deep experience with Spring Boot and practical knowledge of Spring Cloud, Spring Batch and Spring Data.
- Must have strong command of concurrent and asynchronous programming experience with virtual threads, Project Reactor or Web Flux is valuable.
- Must have experience designing versioned REST APIs and Open API contracts.
- Must have experience on microservices architecture and domain-driven service decomposition.
- Must have hands-on experience on development of Agentic AI applications.
- Must have experience with Lang Chain, Lang Graph or comparable orchestration frameworks.
- Must have experience on Elastic search, Open Search or another vector-capable retrieval platform.
- Should have experience on event driven architecture and asynchronous messaging using Kafka, Solace, IBM MQ or comparable platforms.
- Should have experience on Idempotency, back-pressure, bounded concurrency, ordering, failure isolation and recovery design.
- Should have experience on Application resilience patterns using Resilience4j or comparable libraries.
- Should have experience on Strong relational database experience, preferably PostgreSQL or Oracle.
- Should have experience on Kubernetes and Docker in enterprise production environments.
- Should have experience on Public-cloud engineering experience, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Should have experience on CI/CD and infrastructure automation using Jenkins, Ansible or equivalent tooling.
- Good to have experience on Distributed tracing, metrics, structured logging, alerting and Grafana dashboards.
- Good to have experience on JUnit 5 and Mockito.
- Good to have experience on Test containers or equivalent integration-test infrastructure.
- Good to have experience on Consumer/provider contract testing.
- Good to have experience on Replay-based regression testing.
- Good to have experience on Testing distributed transactions, degraded dependencies, partial failures and recovery scenarios.

Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 8 years of experience in Jakarta EE.
- The candidate should be willing to work from client location in Kharadi, Pune for 3 days a week.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
