Connect Learners with Industry Opportunities

Are you experienced in employer engagement, industry placements or employment support? Do you enjoy building relationships with employers and helping learners take their first steps towards successful careers?

We are looking for an Employer Engagement & Industry Placement Coordinator to develop placement opportunities, engage with employers and match students with relevant workplace experience across construction and vocational training programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the importance of employer partnerships and can help learners gain practical experience, develop workplace skills and progress towards employment or apprenticeships.

About the Organisation

Our client is an established Further Education and skills provider delivering vocational training, construction education and employability support. Working closely with employers and industry partners, the organisation helps learners develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to progress into employment and further training.

About the Role

As the Employer Engagement & Industry Placement Coordinator, you will be responsible for sourcing, securing and coordinating industry placements for learners across construction, T Level and other funded programmes.

You will work closely with employers, curriculum teams and employability colleagues to ensure placements meet learner needs, provide valuable workplace experience and comply with relevant funding, safeguarding and Health & Safety requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and securing industry placement opportunities with local and regional employers.

  • Building and maintaining relationships with employers, main contractors, developers and supply chain partners.

  • Matching placement-ready learners with suitable industry opportunities.

  • Coordinating placements across T Levels, EPYP and adult-funded provision.

  • Working with Business Development Officers to identify opportunities for placements to progress into employment or apprenticeships.

  • Collaborating with employability teams to maintain a pipeline of placement-ready learners.

  • Supporting learners to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for successful workplace placements.

  • Promoting placement opportunities and the organisation's employability offer to employers and professional bodies.

  • Identifying new employer partnerships and opportunities to expand industry placement provision.

  • Ensuring placements comply with relevant funding requirements and maintaining accurate, audit-ready records.

  • Completing employer Health & Safety checks and ensuring appropriate learner induction and supervision arrangements.

  • Monitoring placements through regular reviews with learners and employers, addressing any issues promptly.

  • Acting as the main point of contact for employers and learners throughout the placement journey.

  • Identifying and escalating safeguarding, compliance and Health & Safety concerns.

  • Maintaining accurate placement and employability data and producing reports for management.

  • Working with curriculum teams to strengthen employer engagement and support curriculum development.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a confident and organised professional with experience in employer engagement, business development, customer-facing roles or industry placement coordination.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working with employers in a business-to-business, customer-facing or employer engagement environment.

  • A Level 2 relevant vocational or professional qualification, or equivalent.

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent Level 2 qualifications.

  • Good understanding of employer engagement and industry placement processes.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements relating to learners undertaking external work placements.

  • Understanding of funding compliance requirements for Construction Industry Placements and T Level Placements.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and their application to young people and vulnerable adults.

  • An understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks and EPYP provision.

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and organisational skills.

  • The ability to manage multiple employer and learner relationships while maintaining accurate records.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport are essential, as the role involves travelling across College sites and employer premises.

Why Apply?

  • Play an important role in connecting learners with real workplace opportunities.

  • Build relationships with employers across the construction and wider skills sectors.

  • Support progression into employment, apprenticeships and further training.

  • Work closely with employer engagement, curriculum and employability teams.

  • Help develop industry placement opportunities and strengthen employer partnerships.
