Linn County Public Health is looking for a Community Health Analyst/Investigator to gather, research, and analyze health-related data to identify, understand, interpret and extrapolate community health trends, and to utilize findings to identify and communicate priorities and guide population-relevant strategies.  This will insure that activities are community-focused, data-driven, and effective in improving public health outcomes.
  • Community Assessment and Engagement: Engage with community members, leaders, and organizations to build trust and understanding of the health concerns and interests across populations in Linn County. Inquire and investigate the determinants of local health outcomes, contributing to health strategies and recommendations. • Quantitative Data Analysis: Gather, organize, and illustrate quantitative data from existing databases and sources. Utilize statistical software to analyze health survey and behavioral data to identify patterns and correlations that can inform health strategies and interventions.
  • Communication and Data Visualization: Create visual representations of data, such as charts, graphs, infographics, and dashboards to make complex and layered information relatable and audience specific. Develop narratives that connect data insights to real-world implications. Techniques and tools include storytelling to frame data in a way that resonates with audiences, illustrating points with real-life examples, case studies, or hypothetical scenarios.
  • Program Evaluation: Monitor and assess health trends and program outcomes. Advise on evaluation designs, analysis, and implementation, providing recommendations for program improvements. Track key performance indicators, prepare reports on progress and provide insights to improve ongoing and future health promotion efforts.
  • Preparation and Response: Support health emergencies and outbreak response initiatives by participating in trainings, intervention designs, and active data collection to support coordination among government agencies and health officials.
  • Support to department programs: Contribute to the integration of services across all programs and work to ensure the successful implementation of Public Health Modernization practices.
  • Grants and program development: Support requests for proposals with relevant data and evaluation recommendations; participate on internal and external committees and workgroups related to areas of expertise; conduct literature reviews and evaluation design.
Considerable knowledge of public health processes and topics. Knowledgeable in the planning, designing, conducting and/or managing epidemiological studies, field investigations and complex surveillance systems. Ability to organize and advise professional, educational, official and private groups on epidemiology, surveillance data and community health needs. Ability to work independently within the defined guidelines of the program and job description.

A Bachelor's Degree with a focus in public health, epidemiology or another closely-related field and at least one (1) year of work experience with a public health agency or comparable organization. Master's Degree applicants are preferred.

Must be able to pass a criminal history check and possess or obtain a valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record that meets the County's requirements.

This is a non-supervisory position.  Lead work and coordination of work of others is not a typical function assigned to this position. Incumbents in this position may provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel.
