Description

An established manufacturing organization is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead its quality team, oversee quality management systems, and drive consistent execution of quality standards across manufacturing operations.

This role is ideal for a hands-on people leader who can develop employees, strengthen processes, maintain regulatory compliance, and partner with operations leadership to improve quality performance. The successful candidate will combine strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage complex quality systems, audits, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

  • Lead,      coach, and develop quality assurance personnel, including engineers,      technicians, and inspection and testing staff.
  • Establish      clear expectations, promote accountability, and support employee      development and technical competency.
  • Partner      with production supervisors and department leaders to resolve quality      issues and improve manufacturing performance.

Quality Systems and Compliance

  • Develop,      implement, and maintain the quality management system, procedures, and      internal controls.
  • Ensure      compliance with applicable ISO standards and relevant military, naval, and      nuclear quality requirements, including NAVSEA, MIL-STD, ASME, and NQA-1.
  • Oversee      internal and external audits, corrective and preventive actions, root      cause analysis, and follow-up to ensure effective resolution.
  • Maintain      documentation integrity, material traceability, and compliance with      customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Review      customer contracts, technical specifications, drawings, and quality      requirements to ensure appropriate controls are established.

Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor      quality performance metrics and identify opportunities to reduce defects,      rework, and quality-related costs.
  • Work      collaboratively with manufacturing and operations leadership to address      production issues and improve process consistency.
  • Identify      quality risks and implement preventive measures throughout manufacturing      processes.
  • Serve      as a primary point of contact for customers, inspectors, outside      contractors, and certifying organizations on quality-related matters.
  • Promote      a culture of safety, accountability, compliance, and continuous      improvement.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's      degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant      experience.
  • Demonstrated      experience leading a quality function or team in a manufacturing      environment.
  • Experience      implementing or maintaining ISO quality management systems and managing      audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge      of manufacturing quality processes, technical specifications, material      traceability, and quality documentation.
  • Ability      to interpret technical drawings, customer requirements, and applicable      quality standards.
  • Strong      people leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving      skills.
  • Ability      to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy in a highly      regulated, documentation-intensive environment.
  • Foundry,      metal casting, machining, or other complex manufacturing experience      preferred.
  • Familiarity      with nondestructive examination (NDE) and military or nuclear quality      standards is beneficial but not required.

Opportunity

This is an opportunity for a quality leader to make a meaningful impact by developing people, strengthening quality systems, and partnering with operations to support consistent manufacturing performance and customer satisfaction.

A competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered based on qualifications and experience.
