Description
IT PROJECT MANAGER
Company Statement
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Owner’s Representative / Technology Oversight Consultant (Low Voltage & Systems Integration) for a healthcare capital project in the greater Minneapolis area. This is a fully onsite role based at an active construction site, with regular collaboration expected with remote teams. Strong performance in this assignment can open doors to additional opportunities across the company.
This is a hands-on consulting role focused on working with the project’s GC, subcontractors, owner’s program manager and Owner’s team. You will be actively engaging in ways that add clear value to the Owner, GC, and trades through timely insights, guidance, and support.
The primary mission is to independently support Low Voltage and technology integration work, identify potential failures and process gaps, provide proactive guidance, and deliver clear, actionable reporting on schedule health, risks, quality, and cost-saving opportunities. The role requires Low Voltage and technology experience as well as strong observational and advisory skills. Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Embed with the project team (shadowing the GC and key trades) to observe all aspects of Low Voltage and technology-related work without disrupting operations.
- Continuously identify potential failures, process inefficiencies, coordination gaps, sequencing risks, quality issues, and constructability concerns related to IT and Low Voltage systems, structured cabling, pathways, devices, clinical technologies, and systems integration.
- Provide timely, constructive guidance and recommendations to the Owner on streamlining processes, mitigating risks, and improving execution.
- Develop and deliver regular, clear reporting covering:
- Schedule status and critical path impacts related to Low Voltage and technology work
- Emerging and potential future risks
- Quality and installation observations
- Opportunities for cost savings, value engineering, or process improvements
- Monitor predecessor activities, turnover readiness, pathway completion, BIM/coordination status, and trade stacking that affect installation.
- Perform in-depth Contract Drawing (CD) reviews and Gantt schedule analysis.
- Flag incomplete work areas, delayed turnovers, ceiling grid sequencing risks, damage potential, and other conditions that could drive rework, inefficiency, or claims.
- Support risk identification and mitigation planning specific to technology systems.
- Maintain detailed observational notes, photo documentation, and issue logs to support transparent reporting.
- Contribute to focused discussions on Low Voltage and technology scope definition, sequencing, and readiness without assuming direct control of the GC’s team.
- Build credibility and trust with the Owner, GC, and stakeholders through independent expertise and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
- Collaborate regularly with remote teams to align observations, reporting, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Low Voltage systems, structured cabling, technology integration, or related trades within healthcare, hospital, or complex institutional construction environments.
- Proven experience in an advisory, Owner’s Representative, construction or consulting capacity on construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to identify risks, process gaps, and savings opportunities through observation and independent analysis.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare technology systems, pathways, commissioning, and typical failure points in LV installation.
- Experience working alongside General Contractors while maintaining independent judgment and clear communication to the Owner.
- PMP or equivalent project management credential preferred but not required if deep field experience is present.
Qualifications
Core Proficiencies and Skills
- Expertise in Low Voltage systems, structured cabling, pathways, devices, and technology integration.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to anticipate potential failures, sequencing issues, and process inefficiencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, actionable reports for Owner and leadership audiences.
- The ability to build rapport and maintain productive working relationships is essential.
- Ability to work independently as a trusted advisor while remaining engaged and approachable.
- Experience documenting issues, risks, schedule impacts, and cost-saving ideas in real time.
- Comfortable operating in a matrixed project environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Track record of adding measurable value on complex construction projects through proactive risk identification and process improvement recommendations.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Significant field experience in Low Voltage and technology integration (formal degree preferred but secondary to proven expertise).
- Prior experience on healthcare capital projects strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in consulting, Owner’s Representative, or field advisory roles.
- Willingness and ability to be on site in line with the construction schedule, with the majority of time spent on site and limited remote work possible.
