ERM México City is seeking a Managing Consultant to join the Sustainable Operations & Safety Risk team in Mexico. This role is responsible for leading and executing complex Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) audits for national and international clients across diverse industry sectors. The successful candidate will serve as a technical lead, managing client relationships, overseeing project delivery, identifying compliance risks, and providing strategic recommendations to improve EHS performance and operational sustainability.
This position combines extensive fieldwork with technical reporting, project management, and client engagement activities. The individual will play a key role in mentoring junior team members and contributing to the continued growth of ERM's auditing and risk management services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute EHS compliance, management system, and corporate auditing projects.
- Assess compliance with Mexican environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as corporate standards and international best practices.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct site audits, inspections, interviews, and document reviews.
- Develop technical reports, audit findings, risk evaluations, and corrective action recommendations.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
- Support proposal development and contribute to business development opportunities within the practice.
- Mentor, coach, and technically guide junior auditors and consultants.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across ERM offices and regions.
- Support clients in identifying opportunities to strengthen operational sustainability, risk management, and EHS performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience conducting EHS audits in industrial, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, mining, or similar sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex audit projects.
- Experience preparing technical reports and presenting findings to clients and leadership teams.
- Experience mentoring, training, or supervising junior professionals.
- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
- English proficiency with strong written communication skills and the ability to participate in professional conversations.}
Preferred Qualifications
- Lead Auditor certifications or formal auditing training.
- Experience conducting management system audits (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or similar frameworks).
- Experience with multinational clients and corporate EHS programs.
- Knowledge of operational risk management and sustainability performance programs.
