Description
Make a meaningful impact as an adjunct instructor preparing future professionals to support individuals, families, and communities. You will teach Substance Use Disorder Counseling courses, with opportunities to teach Human Services courses, bringing your professional expertise into the classroom and connecting course concepts to practice. You will collaborate with lead faculty to support student learning and program goals, mentor emerging professionals, and help strengthen the substance use disorder counseling and human services workforce.
Hybrid courses are delivered in person in the evenings at the downtown Waukesha campus.
Pay will vary by course being taught.
Under the direct supervision of the Associate Dean of Education and Human Services, your primary responsibility is providing instruction to students enrolled in the Substance Use Disorder Counseling program. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Deliver high-quality instruction in face-to-face hybrid or online formats
- Integrate technology into teaching of course material
- Contribute to program development, curriculum design, and program assessment
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students using strong communication and organizational skills
- Use feedback as a developmental tool for growth in instructional effectiveness and collegiality
- Master’s degree in related field with licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
- Twenty-four (24) months of verifiable occupational experience working in a Substance Abuse Counselor role. One-year (2,000 hours) shall be within the previous five (5) years. One year of related occupational experience may be waived if the candidate has at least two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience in early childhood education within five (5) years.
- Ability to attain and maintain a WTCS teaching certificate.
Preferred qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), Independent Clinical Supervisor (ICS) or Intermediate Clinical Supervisor (ICS) preferred.
- Previous teaching experience is desirable.
