Role Purpose

Lead the Regional Intelligence Unit in Asia and deliver timely, high-quality intelligence and investigative support across the region. The role is accountable for setting priorities, managing complex reviews, maintaining investigative standards and ensuring appropriate escalation of material financial crime risks.

The VP will work closely with regional and global stakeholders to support investigations, intelligence development, AI-enabled reviews and continuous improvement of financial crime controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Regional Intelligence Unit and establish clear priorities aligned with regional and global financial crime objectives.

• Oversee complex intelligence reviews, investigations and risk assessments involving customers, counterparties, transactions and cross-border activity.

• Provide direction and quality challenge on investigative analysis, conclusions, recommendations and escalation decisions.

• Manage regional intelligence requests, internal escalations and time-sensitive reviews.

• Oversee investigations and validate outputs.

• Ensure investigative reports and workpapers are clear, evidence-based, consistent and audit-ready.

• Identify emerging financial crime risks, typologies, trends and control weaknesses relevant to Asia.

• Coordinate with global investigations, regional compliance, country teams, legal, sanctions, transaction monitoring and other control functions.

• Escalate material risks promptly through the appropriate governance channels.

• Develop and maintain procedures, quality standards, escalation thresholds and management information.

• Monitor workload, timeliness, quality and capacity, and recommend changes where required.

• Build team capability through coaching, training, feedback and quality calibration.

• Support regulatory, audit and senior management requests relating to regional intelligence and investigations.

• Promote appropriate and controlled use of data, analytics and artificial intelligence within investigative processes.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years experience in financial crime compliance, investigations, intelligence, transaction monitoring, sanctions, law enforcement or a related field.

• Strong experience leading complex financial crime investigations and intelligence reviews in a financial institution or comparable organization.

• Demonstrated knowledge of financial crime risks, investigative methods, evidence standards and escalation requirements.

• Experience operating across multiple APAC jurisdictions and managing cross-border matters.

• Proven ability to engage and influence senior regional and global stakeholders.

• Experience leading teams, setting priorities and maintaining quality in a high-volume or time-sensitive environment.

• Experience reviewing investigative reports, management information and materials prepared for senior management, auditors or regulators.

• Familiarity with data analytics and AI-supported investigative tools is preferred.

Education and Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

• A relevant professional qualification in anti-money laundering, sanctions, fraud, investigations, compliance or risk management is preferred.

• Language skills are also an advantage.
