The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care and clinical coordination in a physician office setting, working collaboratively with providers, patients, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The RN is responsible for patient assessment, triage, care planning, clinical interventions, patient education, and care coordination across diverse patient populations.This role supports efficient clinical operations by facilitating patient flow, managing clinical communications, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with professional nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. The RN also contributes to quality improvement initiatives, staff development, and positive patient experience.
Education/Training
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor of Nursing Degree preferred
Licenses/Certification:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in Massachusetts
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Responsible for keeping state licensure, continued education and BLS certification current
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Physician office or outpatient setting
- Strong clinical nursing knowledge with the ability to perform patient assessments, identify changes in condition, and appropriately triage clinical concerns.
- Ability to obtain, monitor, and accurately document vital signs, patient histories, and other clinical information.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage patients, families, providers, and colleagues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based healthcare environment while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and a patient-centered approach to care.
- Strong organizational skills, proficiency in medical terminology, and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while adhering to regulatory, professional, and organizational standards.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience performing clinical triage and responding to patient concerns in an ambulatory or outpatient setting.
- Experience administering medications, injections, immunizations, and other nursing interventions within scope of practice.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) and physician office workflows.
- Experience supporting care coordination activities, including referrals, prior authorizations, prescription refills, and patient follow-up.
- Ability to provide patient education and promote positive patient experiences through effective communication and engagement
- Experience supporting staff training, onboarding, mentoring, and clinical workflow improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, teamwork, and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care and clinical support to patients in an ambulatory care setting, utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practices to promote positive patient outcomes.
- Conduct patient assessments, obtain and document clinical information, and identify changes in patient condition to support appropriate treatment and care planning.
- Triage patient concerns, communicate clinical information to providers, and facilitate timely interventions to ensure safe, effective patient care.
- Coordinate patient care activities, including referrals, prior authorizations, prescription refill management, follow-up care, and other care coordination functions to support continuity of care.
- Administer medications, injections, immunizations, treatments, and diagnostic testing in accordance with provider orders, organizational policies, and scope of practice.
- Educate patients and families regarding health conditions, treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and follow-up instructions to promote patient engagement and self-management.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and support efficient clinical operations.
- Manage clinical communications and patient interactions, including provider inbox support, telephone encounters, scheduling support, and patient follow-up activities.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and other applicable systems while safeguarding patient confidentiality
- Prepare, maintain, and stock examination rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient patient care environment.
- Support staff development through participation in training, onboarding, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to enhance team effectiveness and clinical performance.
- Maintain clinical competency and comply with all applicable professional standards, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, quality initiatives, and organizational policies.

- Ability to safely operate standard office equipment and clinical equipment relevant to the position.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, hazardous materials, and other occupational hazards common to healthcare settings; appropriate safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) are required.

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value Sturdy Health’s benefits package (if applicable), which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision and retirement. For annual salaries this is based on full-time employment.
