Animal Control Division
PART-TIMEPOSITION
Maximum of 20HRSPERWEEK and 1,000 hours in a fiscal year
Schedule varies and may include weekends, nights, and holidays

Community Education and Public Relations
- Process pet adoptions
- Process counter and mail in dog licenses and renewals
- Process requests for service, follow up with clients and dispatch officers
- Process animal redemptions
- Process Bite Reports, Animal Cruelty Reports, and Citizen Complaints
- Edit/update animal adoption websites as needed
- Coordinate donations and educate potential donors
- Maintain public education documents and flyers
- Answer phones: provide general information and/or direct public to appropriate animal control and wildlife resources
Administration
- Process monthly and yearly City of Norco Animal Control reports and statistics
- Manage cash drawer, credit & debit transactions, including daily reconciliation and balancing
- Prepare cash deposits and receipts
- Collect on returned checks
- Interact with City finance staff and prepare requested reports
- Assist with Animal Control budget and budget management
- Material Ordering & Invoice Reconciliation
- Place orders as required for livestock feed, cleaning supplies, office and medical supplies
- Coordinate animal medical and grooming services
- Review all animal control invoices and ensure charges are reasonable and appropriate
- Manage Court Workers & Volunteers
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
License Required: Valid California Drivers’ License with good driver record.
Ability to: Properly organize work including time management and project initiation; research, analyze and make sound recommendations; comprehend and input data into Chameleon software; communicate clearly verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with the staff and shelter customers.
Knowledge: Knowledge of office, clerical and customer service methods and techniques; basic bookkeeping practices; basic budget development and budget monitoring practices and principles; computer hardware, software and peripherals (MS Office, Chameleon software); business English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Basic knowledge of federal, state and city laws, rules, regulations and codes relating to Animal Control.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Work is performed in an office environment. Requires vision (which may be corrected) to read small print. Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects. Requires mobility to stand, stoop, reach, and bend. Sit for long periods while typing and using a computer. Performs lifting, pushing and/or pulling and lift up to 25 pounds for the purpose of lifting supplies or equipment. Requires the ability to move from place to place within the office and to reach for items above and below desk level.
While performing the duties of this class, employees are regularly required to use oral and written communications skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; observe and interpret situations; use math and mathematical reasoning; learn and apply new information or new skills; interact with City staff, other organizations and the public.
EMERGENCY SERVICES:
All City employees are required to perform assigned Emergency Service duties in the event of an emergency or disaster. Employees must complete the required FEMA courses within six months of employment.

Final appointments may be subject to a selection interview with the Department Director or designee and the remaining conditional steps in the hiring process. This position requires a conditional employment offer based on the successful completion of a drug and alcohol screening.
