Full-Time Intermediate Lifeguard
Position Summary:
The Town of Bonnyville is seeking an energetic, dependable, and qualified Full-Time Intermediate Lifeguard to join our team! This is a safety-sensitive position responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming aquatic environment.
In this role, you will perform active lifeguarding and swim instruction, oversee lesson administration, assist with front counter operations, maintain water quality across the facility's pools, and supervise junior staff in the absence of senior personnel.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform active aquatic supervision and lead swim lessons primarily in the water. Manage lesson administration, including class lists, progressive evaluations, and report cards.

Supervise Junior Lifeguards and Casual admin staff in the absence of the Pool Supervisor or Head Guard.

Conduct necessary water tests, pump checks, and routine maintenance (e.g., backwashing, recirculation, adding chemicals) to maintain balanced water in all pools. Keep the chemical storage room organized and ensure safety equipment and updated Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are accessible.

Assist with season pass sales, bookings, front desk customer service, and cash-outs when administration is off duty. Enforce facility rules and maintain positive community relations.

Attend required training meetings and courses. Stay familiar with Town policies, pool procedures, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations, and SDS sheets.
Qualifications:

Minimum of 18 years of age with at least six (6) months of relevant experience.

National Lifeguard certification.

Intermediate First Aid with CPR "C".

Swim and Lifesaving Instructor certification.

Willingness to obtain the Alberta Association of Recreation Facility Personnel (AARFP) Pool Operator Level 1 within one year of employment.

Maintain good physical condition to fully meet the obligations of the position as established by the Lifesaving Society – National Lifeguard Standards (condition of employment).

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends according to the Collective Agreement.

Designated as a safety-sensitive position.

Employment is conditional upon the successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Town of Bonnyville employment policies.
Considered an Asset:

Lifesaving Trainer certification.

National Lifeguard Trainer certification.
-
Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification (or willingness to obtain within 1 year).
