The Principal Strategic Supply Planner serves as a senior supply chain professional responsible for translating complex business, market, and operational data into strategic supply decisions that enable profitable growth, optimize inventory, and protect revenue. This role combines deep supply chain expertise with advanced analytical capabilities to influence executive decision-making across Business Management, Demand Planning, Planning/Fulfillment, Procurement and Manufacturing.
Acting as a strategic advisor, this individual leverages predictive analytics, scenario modeling, statistical insights, and business intelligence tools to anticipate risks, identify opportunities, and develop data-driven supply strategies across the product lifecycle.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Supply Leadership
- Develop long-range supply strategies that align with business, financial, and operational objectives.
- Lead executive-level planning discussions within cross-functional forums by quantifying risks, opportunities, and tradeoffs.
- Align supply plans with product roadmaps, market demand shifts, sourcing strategies, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Drive strategic decisions regarding supply allocation, inventory positioning, capacity investments, and lifecycle transitions.
Advanced Analytics & Insights
- Apply advanced analytics to transform large, complex datasets into actionable business insights.
- Develop predictive models to identify future supply constraints, inventory risks, capacity gaps, and demand shifts.
- Lead scenario planning exercises to evaluate financial and operational impacts across multiple business outcomes.
- Design and maintain analytical frameworks that support executive decision-making and impact operational outcomes.
Supply Chain Intelligence
- Establish early-warning indicators that proactively identify supply, inventory, and capacity risks.
- Provide fact-based recommendations supported by analytical evidence.
- Create decision-support tools that improve planning accuracy and responsiveness.
Executive Leadership Engagement
- Influence cross-functional decisions through compelling storytelling with data.
- Present executive-level analysis that clearly articulates:
- Customer impact
- Business impact
- Recommended actions
- Translate technical findings into business language appropriate for executive audiences.
Digital Transformation & Automation
- Champion adoption of digital planning tools, AI capabilities, and advanced analytics platforms.
- Identify opportunities to automate planning processes through data science and business intelligence solutions.
- Improve visibility through KPI standardization and advanced analytic tools.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Business Administration
- A master’s degree or MBA is highly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, operations planning, or analytics
- 5+ years in strategic supply planning, inventory optimization, or capacity planning
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-level or global initiatives
- Significant experience advising senior leaders and influencing cross-functional decisions
Pay & Benefits
The pay range for this role is $130,700 to $205,200 USD annually with additional
opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United
States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related
knowledge, skills, and experience.
