Design Engineer

Job Title:
Mechanical Design Engineer – East Rand

Job purpose:
Our client in engineering and manufacturing of mining machinery is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent position. The role involves developing equipment designs, preparing production drawings and working closely with manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design mechanical equipment and components for industrial applications.
• Develop 3D models and detailed technical drawings.
• Complete engineering calculations and follow established quality standards.
• Work with drawing office and production teams to ensure designs are accurate and practical to manufacture.
• Improve existing designs and resolve technical challenges.
• Manage design changes and provide project progress updates.

Qualifications and experience:

• BSc or BTech in Mechanical Engineering, or a higher qualification.
• At least five years’ experience in mechanical design and manufacturing.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality environment.
• Exposure to mining or related industrial equipment would be advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical specifications.
• Good communication, teamwork and project coordination skills.
