Overview:
This position assists the Head of Risk in providing risk oversight, including operational risk, market and liquidity risk, and credit portfolio management for the Hong Kong Branch.
Responsibilities
- Review and recommend enhancements to the integrated risk management framework, policies, and procedures by keeping abreast of regulatory requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and implement internal controls to minimize overall risks in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Regularly perform operational risk reviews and validations for various business units; provide actionable recommendations to enhance control effectiveness.
- Oversee risk exposures, ensuring related risk limits, thresholds, and ratios are monitored and reported accurately. Identify material risks, propose mitigation strategies across market and liquidity risks, analyze portfolio performance, and perform stress testing.
- Prepare high-quality presentation materials to facilitate management meetings and execute ad-hoc projects assigned by the supervisor.
- Liaise with frontline units and Head Office in implementing risk controls, ensuring all identified issues are addressed in a timely manner.
Skills & Experience We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Risk Management, Statistics, Quantitative Analysis, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as FRM and/or CFA are an advantage.
- Core or Professional level qualification under the Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) for Banking Practitioners in relevant stream(s) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of risk management experience in the banking industry.
- Solid understanding of operational risk frameworks, control effectiveness, global market products, and related market risk controls.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of integrity.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
