Description
Transaction Monitoring Analyst (BlueCube)
Location - Philippines (Remote)
Role Description
We are looking for a Transaction Monitoring Analyst to review incoming payments related alerts and investigate potentially suspicious activity across fiat and crypto transactions. This is a first-level investigative role within Blockchain.com's for someone with a strong understanding of Transaction Monitoring, particularly crypto transaction monitoring and blockchain-based risk. You will be responsible for reviewing alerts, identifying relevant transaction patterns, assessing the associated risks, and reaching well-supported decisions on whether activity can be cleared or requires further investigation and escalation. You will own each alert assigned to you, from first review to a documented outcome. You will read the transaction pattern against the customer's profile, source of funds and on-chain exposure, using Chainalysis KYT and our internal tools, and weigh the risk indicators against the facts that explain the activity. Where the risk cannot be mitigated, you will escalate to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) with a structured narrative. You will work with your Transaction Monitoring team lead, FIU investigators, and the KYC, Enhanced Due Diligence and payment review teams.
This role suits someone with sound judgment who is comfortable making a decision and standing behind it. We value accurate, well-reasoned outcomes over escalation by default, and steady, reliable output across a full shift.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Investigate transaction monitoring alerts on fiat and crypto activity, looking at the customer's full history rather than the triggering transaction alone.
- Analyse deposits, withdrawals, counterparties, frequency, amounts and flow of funds to spot patterns such as structuring, rapid pass-through, layering or activity inconsistent with the customer's profile.
- Assess on-chain exposure in Chainalysis KYT: direct versus indirect exposure, number of hops, value received compared with the source amount, and timing.
- Treat tool alerts as signals, not conclusions, and record any limits or missing information that affect your assessment.
- Check KYC and EDD records, source of funds and source of wealth, past reviews and customer communications, using OSINT and adverse media where useful.
- Approve or reject transactions within the limits set by our procedures.
- Escalate to the FIU every case that meets mandatory escalation criteria (for example terrorist financing or darknet market withdrawals at high or severe risk), every unresolved suspicion and every urgent sanctions concern.
- Write escalation narratives in clear English: alert trigger, customer context, fiat and on-chain findings, mitigating factors, open questions and the reason for escalation.
- Keep case records accurate and work your queue against quality standards, priorities and service levels.
- Raise blockers or urgent risks straight away.
- Take part in quality reviews, calibration and training, and share recurring patterns, data gaps or rule issues with your lead.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 3+ years in AML or financial crime operations, including hands-on transaction monitoring investigations at a fintech or regulated crypto business.
- Solid knowledge of money laundering and terrorist financing typologies, sanctions risk and the risk-based approach.
- The judgment to weigh red flags against mitigating evidence, notice what is missing, and justify a closure, a rejection or an escalation.
- Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to explain your reasoning when a reviewer challenges it.
- Experience with transaction monitoring tools, case management systems, and spreadsheets data analysis.
- Discretion with confidential information, and the ability to keep quality steady while managing a busy queue.
- Availability for shifts covering a global operation, including nights and weekends when scheduled.
- A reliable internet connection for video meetings and a smartphone for authentication apps, and willingness to complete background and security checks.
- Hands-on experience with Chainalysis KYT, Elliptic, TRM or any other blockchain analytics tool is a strong plus.
- Experience writing SAR/STR narratives or FIU referrals, a CAMS certification, or SQL skills is a plus.
Shortlisted candidates will complete a practical exercise: analysing crypto transactions, interpreting on-chain evidence, and writing a short investigation narrative with a justified decision.
