Director of Pharmacy Business & Contracting
Lead Pharmacy Strategy. Optimize Revenue. Drive Business Performance.
University Health is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Pharmacy Business & Contracting to lead pharmacy contracting, revenue management, financial analysis, and business optimization across the health system.
This senior leadership role serves as a key partner to Pharmacy and organizational leadership, ensuring contracting requirements are met while identifying opportunities to strengthen financial performance, improve operational efficiency, and maximize pharmacy revenue. The ideal candidate brings strong pharmacy leadership experience combined with business acumen, analytical expertise, and a working knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and payer relationships.
What You’ll Lead
- Direct pharmacy contracting and revenue management activities across the health system.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and applicable organizational policies and regulations.
- Lead financial audits, payer performance analysis, contract compliance reviews, and business assessments.
- Identify reimbursement opportunities, financial risks, and process improvement opportunities.
- Analyze quality data and translate findings into actionable strategies that improve efficiency and revenue.
- Oversee problem resolution, reporting, auditing, and recommendations supporting optimal business outcomes.
- Develop and implement processes that strengthen pharmacy financial performance and operational effectiveness.
- Provide education and training related to pharmacy business, contracting, and revenue management.
- Partner with Pharmacy leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
- Provide clear, data-driven recommendations to leadership regarding pharmacy business performance and revenue opportunities.
- Lead and support pharmacy staff while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What You Bring
Required:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Registered Pharmacist with equivalent experience.
- Current Missouri Board of Pharmacy pharmacist license in good standing.
- Completion of Medical Staff Credentialing and Privileging process.
- Minimum 5 years of medical center or multi-site pharmacy experience.
- Minimum 5 years of pharmacy management experience.
- Demonstrated pharmacy staff management experience.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, high volumes, and frequent interruptions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop reports, communicate recommendations, and provide direction to staff and other departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
- Advanced degree in healthcare management, such as an MS, MHA, or MBA.
- Experience in pharmacy, insurance, or healthcare business environments involving contracts, third-party insurance, HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement practices and electronic claims processing.
