About this Opportunity:
The Estimating Manager executes a critical role in driving new business growth by owning estimating at our Hobson & Motzer business unit. They will work with engineering, tool designers, operations, commercial and supply chain to review new quote packages and determine product fit, optimal manufacturing processes, and establish accurate cost models. This role uses knowledge of current manufacturing capabilities, and their ability to investigate and evaluate new equipment, approaches, and outside-service partners to create proposals which provide a competitive advantage over competitors. This role identifies part and project risks, proposes DFM, and generates customer-facing quotes. The successful candidate combines technical aptitude, high internal collaboration, financial understanding, and professional customer-facing interactions to enable continued growth. This role does not have direct reports, rather manages quotes in partnership with the broader team.

Responsibilities:
- Review and filter new quote opportunities for manufacturability and strategic site fit.
- Develop cost and price recommendations for new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with company SMEs to determine feasibility and optimal approaches for precision stamping processes, coining, machining, PECM, and sub-processing
- Evaluate and recommend optimal equipment selection, fixture and tooling design, and automation integration.
- Identify, document and communicate to the customer DFM opportunities to positively impact cost, quality, and delivery.
- Partner with Commercial to provide customer facing technical support when developing and delivering customer proposals to build confidence in the manufacturing process quoted.
- Investigate new technologies and capabilities, with a focus on improving competitiveness in cost structure to increase value to customers and our business.
- Obtain quotations for outside services and materials either by direct contact with suppliers or in partnership with Supply Chain.
- Review pricing and cost history and performs re-quotes
- Successfully communicate complex issues with customers and internal team members.
- Adheres to all safety and quality requirements including but not limited to: Quality Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
- Infrequent travel as needed for site-visits, customer meetings, and industry events
The Successful Candidate will:
- Develop accurate quotes with a strategic mindset of how to best serve the customer and the business
- Manage quotes to ensure timely completion, provides quote / no-quote recommendations, and pricing feedback.
- Supports other Vantedge Network locations in scope of similar technologies
- Participates in cross-functional project teams to propose and implement creative solutions.
- Ensure internal and external customer expectations are met or exceeded.
Requirements
- Engineering or bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
- 7+ years of work experience in similar technical roles including medical device or regulated industry manufacturing required
- Understanding and experience in precision metals progression stamping, coining, sub-processing, assembly, and inspection is strongly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to provide solid rational and justification for process proposals and improvement change requests
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills.
- Strong GD&T skills.
- Working knowledge of ISO and FDA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean manufacturing and new product development or launch support experience is highly desirable.
- Experience launching new products effectively in a regulated contract manufacturing environment.
- Experience in medical devices is preferred.
