Description
Reporting to the Plant Manager/Superintendent, this role is responsible for maintaining inventory levels of plant supplies, parts, tooling, lubricants, chemicals, and other materials necessary to support production operations. The position oversees purchasing activities, inventory management, raw material processing, and operational reporting to help ensure production schedules are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
The Purchasing Coordinator works on-site in a manufacturing plant environment and regularly interacts with maintenance, production, suppliers, and plant leadership to support operational needs, manage inventory levels, and coordinate purchasing activities.
What You'll Do
Maintain inventory levels of plant parts and supplies
Generate purchase orders and coordinate with internal and external vendors
Manage raw material deliveries and processing activities
Monitor inventory consumption, receiving, and replenishment activities
Manage parts and consumable cost control systems using Microsoft Office and accounts payable/receivable processes
Coordinate end-of-month activities, including environmental, inventory, and cost reporting
Properly identify, receive, and store supplies in storeroom and remote storage areas
Maintain reorder points and inventory levels to support production requirements
Work with supervisors and suppliers to locate and expedite critical parts and supply deliveries
What You Need
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
Three or more years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel
Strong organizational and inventory management skills
Dependable, safety-oriented, and flexible to work overtime as needed
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Manufacturing plant and storeroom environment
Frequent interaction with production, maintenance, suppliers, and plant leadership
Ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, squat, and stand for extended periods
Ability to push, pull, bend, climb, walk, and lift on a continuous basis
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds overhead on an occasional basis
Ability to support plant operations in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
