Description
We are working closely with Sefton MBC to assist with the appointment of a Family Support Worker, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £16.87- £22.18 per hour
Summary:
The Family Support Worker plays a key role in delivering high-quality, child-centred support to vulnerable children, young people and families across Sefton. The role involves undertaking direct work with children and families in their homes and communities, supporting the implementation of Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children care plans, identifying risks, promoting safeguarding, and assisting families to build resilience and independence.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake direct work with children and families in homes, schools and community settings in accordance with agreed care plans and assessments.
- Undertake home visits, welfare checks and safeguarding visits to assess children's safety, wellbeing and living conditions.
- Support qualified social workers during Child Protection enquiries, including Section 47 investigations and immediate safeguarding interventions.
- Supervise and facilitate family contact sessions between children and birth family members in accordance with care plans.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement and uphold the reputation and values of Sefton Children's Social Care.
Qualifications:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Children and Young People's Workforce, Health and Social Care, Early Years, Youth Work or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Essentials:
- Experience working directly with vulnerable children, young people and families.
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and child protection procedures.
- Understanding of child development, attachment, trauma and the impact of adversity on children and families.
- Knowledge of Children in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children processes.

- This role requires an Enhanced DBS
