Engineering Technician 1 (Front End Night Shift)

• Under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor, the Engineering Technician 1 will provide technical support to
• equipment engineers for the improvement, installation, validation and transfer of replicate custom automated
• equipment used in the scale-up of manufacturing for existing or new Dexcom products. These duties include
• supporting cross functional equipment deployment teams while working with outside suppliers to meet equipment
• specifications and timelines.

Where you come in:

• You will work with schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to
• perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
• You will test performance of electro-mechanical assemblies, using test equipment
• You will have experience with pneumatics, electromechanical systems, PLCs, and robotic systems in
• a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• You will operate, test, or maintain robotic equipment and vision systems.
• You will analyse and record test results, and prepare written documentation
• You will perform operational test and fault isolation on automated systems and equipment.
• You will carry out activities in equipment development under the supervision of the project engineer.
• These activities include the assembly and testing of equipment, fixtures, processes and/or electronics,
• completing engineering studies and validations.
• You will follow Dexcom’s Safety and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) program.
• You will assume and perform other duties as assigned.
• You will perform all assigned tasks with appropriate safety requirements.
• You will update equipment related documentations (manuals, drawings, and specifications) as needed.

What makes you successful:

• Typically requires a Level 6/7 qualification and a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical documents related to equipment
• specifications
• Ability to write routine reports, pass downs and correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, engineers and
• managers
• Knowledge and experience with PLC and Automated production/process equipment, Pneumatics,
• Electro/Mechanical systems and Packaging equipment highly desirable.
• Experience with process improvement projects i.e. improving yields, reducing downtime
• Proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and personal interaction skills
• Knowledge of high reliability, high volume manufacturing equipment and processes
• Technical writing skills as applied to manufacturing documentation and process development -
• Experienced in the creation and revision of technical documentation
