- Under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor, the Engineering Technician 1 will provide technical support to
- equipment engineers for the improvement, installation, validation and transfer of replicate custom automated
- equipment used in the scale-up of manufacturing for existing or new Dexcom products. These duties include
- supporting cross functional equipment deployment teams while working with outside suppliers to meet equipment
- specifications and timelines.
Where you come in:
- You will work with schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to
- perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
- You will test performance of electro-mechanical assemblies, using test equipment
- You will have experience with pneumatics, electromechanical systems, PLCs, and robotic systems in
- a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- You will operate, test, or maintain robotic equipment and vision systems.
- You will analyse and record test results, and prepare written documentation
- You will perform operational test and fault isolation on automated systems and equipment.
- You will carry out activities in equipment development under the supervision of the project engineer.
- These activities include the assembly and testing of equipment, fixtures, processes and/or electronics,
- completing engineering studies and validations.
- You will follow Dexcom’s Safety and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) program.
- You will assume and perform other duties as assigned.
- You will perform all assigned tasks with appropriate safety requirements.
- You will update equipment related documentations (manuals, drawings, and specifications) as needed.
What makes you successful:
- Typically requires a Level 6/7 qualification and a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical documents related to equipment
- specifications
- Ability to write routine reports, pass downs and correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, engineers and
- managers
- Knowledge and experience with PLC and Automated production/process equipment, Pneumatics,
- Electro/Mechanical systems and Packaging equipment highly desirable.
- Experience with process improvement projects i.e. improving yields, reducing downtime
- Proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and personal interaction skills
- Knowledge of high reliability, high volume manufacturing equipment and processes
- Technical writing skills as applied to manufacturing documentation and process development -
- Experienced in the creation and revision of technical documentation
