Overview

The Operations Specialist II is responsible for managing and optimizing complex freight forwarding operations across AIT Worldwide Logistics' global network. Oversees end-to-end shipment execution across air, ocean, and ground transportation, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and customer-focused logistics solutions. Handles high-value and complex shipments, proactively identifies and resolves operational issues, mitigates risks, and ensures compliance with international trade regulations. Serves as a key advisor to customers and internal teams, translating customer requirements into customized logistics solutions that support AIT's consultative, customer-first approach while driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Shipment Execution:Manage international and domestic shipments across air, ocean, and ground modes from booking through final deliveryCoordinate routing, carrier selection, and scheduling to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery Oversee documentation including bills of lading, customs paperwork, invoices, and shipping instructions
• Customer & Account Management:Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring a high level of service and responsivenessProactively communicate shipment status, resolve delays, and manage exceptionsBuild strong client relationships and identify opportunities to expand service offerings
• Carrier & Vendor Coordination:Negotiate rates and capacity with carriers, airlines, trucking providers, and other logistics partners Maintain strong vendor relationships to support service reliability and cost optimizationMonitor carrier performance and enforce service-level agreements
• Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policiesSupport audits, documentation accuracy, and risk mitigation related to import/export activityStay current on evolving logistics regulations and best practices
• Operational Excellence & Problem Solving:Analyze shipment data, KPIs, and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunitiesTroubleshoot service failures, resolve escalations, and implement corrective actionsDrive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with AIT’s high-performance culture
• Leadership & Collaboration:Partner cross-functionally with pricing, sales, customs brokerage, warehousing, and finance teamsContribute to process improvements, SOP development, and operational training
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

Education• High School Diploma or GED with 6byears of work experience in relevant field (required) or • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (preferred) Experience• 3+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation operations (required) • 2+ years work experience with import/export documentation and customs compliance (preferred) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Strong understanding of multimodal transportation (air, ocean, ground) and global shipping processes Medium • Proficiency with logistics systems, ERP/TMS platforms, and Microsoft Office • Work experience in a global 3PL or freight forwarding environment • Knowledge of specialized verticals (e.g., life sciences, high-tech, automotive) • Ability to have problem-solving and decision-making skills • Must be able to communication and cross-functional collaboration clearly • Must have strong organizational and multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment • Must have customer-centric mindset and shows strong relationship management skills • Licenses and Certifications • - IATA (preferred) • - FIATA (preferred) • - APICS (preferred)
