UW Pediatrics has an outstanding opportunity for a BCBA/Continuing Educations Specialist 3 to join their team. 

About this Opportunity 

Reporting to the associate director of the UW Autism Center of Excellence (ACE-II) NIH grant-funded study: TADPOLE (Toddlers with Autism: Developing Opportunities for Learning), as well as the NIH funded Early Steps Follow-up Study and the PATH Project (Parents and Toddlers at Home) funded by Autism Speaks, the BCBA/Continuing Education Specialist 3 is responsible for providing clinical services to autistic individuals, including assessing, designing, implementing and modifying direct intervention and instructional programs to children ages 2-6 years with ASD using evidence-based interventions.  

 

The UW Autism Center (UWAC) is devoted to supporting families affected by autism spectrum disorders through exceptional clinical services, innovative scientific research and high-quality training. UWAC is part of the Center on Human Development and Disability at the University of Washington and incorporates faculty and staff from the UW School of Medicine, College of Arts & Sciences, and College of Education.   

 

Key Responsibilities 

CLINICAL DUTIES 80%  

  • Intake and assess clients  

  • Design/implement individualized treatment plan and skills training for clients   

  • Train and supervise behavioral technicians (BTs) who work with clients in the center-based program to implement client treatment plans with fidelity  

  • Provide weekly parent coaching to care providers of clients   

  • Complete initial client evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, discharge reports, coordination of care with outside providers, referral letters, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely manner   

  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate practicum students and volunteers and evaluate their performance.  

  • Meet assigned deadlines  

  • Collaborate with other clinical team members in assessment and intervention and consult with other members of clinical team regarding diagnosis and intervention strategies, as needed.  

  • Keep appropriate records of services provided and coordinate with the billing office and direct supervisor regarding services.  

  • Will need to be on campus/in building all of the operating hours of the ABA LAUNCH Program.  

  • The clinical work for this position will be supervised by the director of the ABA LAUNCH Program. This may include but is not limited to regular meetings (up to weekly), annual reviews, and other more informal check in opportunities. Additional on-site support may be provided and recommended based on experience.  

 

PROGRAMMATIC DUTIES 20%  

  • Participate in community activities and events  

  • Attend weekly staff meetings, other meetings as necessary   

  • Complete paperwork within required time frame   

  • Interface with University of Washington Tacoma and Seattle staff, faculty, departments, and students to provide services, support and training when applicable.  

  • Provide consultation to community providers who work with patients in order to develop continuity in care for the patient and their family, as needed.  

  • Perform related duties as required 

 

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Department. 

  • Master’s degree in education or related field  

AND  

  • 2-3 years of experience in working with children, adolescents, and/or adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders; experience teaching and designing programs for students with autism spectrum disorders, including collaboration with general education teachers, school administrators, related services personnel and outside community providers    

 

Additional Qualifications 

  • Experience teaching and designing programs for students with autism spectrum disorders, including collaboration with general education teachers, school administrators, related services personnel and outside community providers    

  • Access to vehicle for commuting to and from place of work to other sites  

  • Licensure and certification, if appropriate to the field (e.g., LBA – Licensed Behavior Analyst, BCBA – Board Certified Behavior Analyst)  

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;   

  • Experience assessing behavior and synthesizing results in a written report;  

  • An approach to working with colleagues that enhances collaboration and team building;   

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, negotiate multi-layered regulatory systems, manage competing priorities, strong organization skills 

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$71,952.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$90,000.00 annual
