Description
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
Plan, organize, and direct production operations to meet or exceed production targets.
Ensure throughput and utilization of PVD coating, sputter, plasma nitriding, process‐treatment, and other related equipment are optimized.
Monitor production schedules; ensure timely delivery and minimisation of downtime.
Reduce scrap, rejects, rework; continuous improvement of yield.
Quality Assurance & Process Control
Maintain and improve product quality to meet customer specifications and internal standards.
Implement and maintain process controls, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues; take corrective and preventive actions.
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
Ensure plant operations adhere to all safety, health, environmental regulations and internal policies.
Promote safety culture; oversee safety audits, training, incident investigations.
Ensure proper handling and disposal of chemical and process wastes, waste water and emissions as per norms.
Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
Oversee preventive & predictive maintenance of equipment; plan for upkeep to avoid breakdowns.
Ensure utilities (vacuum systems, power, gas, cooling, water, compressed air etc.) are reliably available with minimal drift.
Lead initiatives for equipment upgrades, process improvements, cost reductions.
Cost Control and Budgeting
Prepare annual operating budgets, capital expenditure (CAPEX) plans; monitor and control plant costs.
Optimize resource utilization (manpower, materials, utilities) to reduce wastage and cost.
Identify and drive cost saving opportunities (energy, consumables, utilities, etc.)
Team Leadership & Human Resource Management
Lead, mentor and develop plant managers, supervisors, operators and staff.
Ensure proper staffing, training (process, safety, quality), performance appraisals.
Foster good labor relations, ensure discipline, morale, good communication across teams.
Planning & Coordination
Coordinate with procurement for raw materials, spare parts; ensure inventory levels are adequate.
Work with quality, R&D, engineering, and customer service teams to support new products, process trials etc.
Monitor supply chain, vendor performance, material lead times.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Lead lean manufacturing, TPM, 6 Sigma, or other continuous improvement programs.
Identify new technologies / process improvements relevant to PVD coating field to enhance productivity, quality, durability etc.
Benchmark against industry best practices.
Compliance & Regulatory
Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements (labour laws, environmental regulations, safety laws etc.).
Ensure plant certifications (ISO, etc.) are maintained.
Ensure documentation, records, reports are maintained and available for audits.
Customer & Stakeholder Interaction
Engage with key customers (internal / external) to understand requirements, feedback, ensure satisfaction.
Liaise with regulatory agencies, local authorities, utilities providers.
