Location: Waxahachie Surgery Center
Department: Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Employment Type: PRN/independent contractor
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PRN Preop and PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preoperative Care:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments prior to surgery.
- Review patient history and verify surgical consent.
- Administer preoperative medications and IVs as necessary.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Post-Anesthesia Care:
- Monitor patients' vital signs and recovery progress in the PACU.
- Manage postoperative pain and administer medications as prescribed.
- Assess for any complications and take appropriate action.
- Educate patients and their families on postoperative care instructions.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Document all care provided accurately and promptly.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in Texas
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Previous experience in an outpatient surgical setting.
Schedule:
- PRN position; must be available to work variable 10-12 shifts Tuesdays and Thursdays
Compensation:
- Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.
