Position: Maintenance Trainer.

We are seeking for an experienced Maintenance Trainer to join our team in Mashonaland West (Zimbabwe).

Responsibilities:

Training & Competency Development

  • Deliver practical and theoretical training programs for maintenance personnel, covering mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and auxiliary systems on heavy mining equipment.

  • Conduct skills assessments to verify competency and identify training needs.

  • Support onboarding of new maintenance employees and upskilling of existing staff.

  • Develop structured training plans and schedules aligned with site maintenance objectives.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records, assessment forms, and certification documentation.

  • Provide hands-on coaching in workshop and field environments.

Technical Maintenance Excellence

  • Ensure trainees understand and can correctly perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to OEM standards.

  • Train personnel on troubleshooting techniques, component replacement, and root cause analysis.

  • Reinforce proper use of tools, maintenance procedures, and quality control checks.

  • Support the implementation of standard maintenance practices to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and reliability programs.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce adherence to safety procedures during all training and maintenance activities.

  • Deliver training on hazard identification, LOTO (Lock Out–Tag Out), safe lifting, and proper use of PPE.

  • Ensure trainees are competent and authorized to work on equipment safely.

  • Report and address unsafe practices observed during training sessions.

  • Support incident investigations involving maintenance errors or unsafe work practices.

Coordination & Support

  • Work closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Planners, and Operations teams to align training content with site priorities and equipment needs.

  • Assist in developing and updating maintenance manuals, SOPs, and competency standards.

  • Participate in daily maintenance meetings and provide feedback on team skill development.

  • Support the introduction of new equipment models and technologies through targeted training sessions.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Maintenance Engineering.

  • Recognized Trainer or Technical Instructor certification (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance of heavy mining or earthmoving equipment or relevant experience with EPSA Group.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

  • Familiarity with OEM standards (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, Volvo).

  • Proven experience in training and competency assessment.

  • OEM technical training certifications or factory training background.

  • Experience in simulator-based or structured training programs.

  • Knowledge of CMMS or maintenance planning systems (e.g., SAP, Pragma, or similar).

  • Certification in adult learning methodologies or training-of-trainers (TOT).

  • First aid or HSE-related training certifications.

  • Experience in remote mining or contractor environments.
