Job Overview
The Credentialing Specialist position specializes in credentialing activities, coordinates the credentialing functions, performs analytical and critical thinking skills when credentialing/re-credentialing an applicant, and acts as a liaison between the credentialing staff and administration within the parameters established by the Credentialing Manager/Chair/Designee/CMO. Under the direction of the Credentialing Supervisor, the Credentialing Specialist is responsible for processing initial and re-credentialing applications for physicians, mid-levels, dentists, and all other applicable providers. Ensures accurate, complete, and timely functioning of the initial and re-credentialing processes. Prepares credentialing files for presentation to the Credentialing Committee, State Agencies, and Health Plans audits. Supports Credentialing Coordinators to gain skills and experience.
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma required.
- An associate's degree and/or college coursework are highly preferred.
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of Health Care (Managed Care, MSO, Medical Staff) Credentialing or related field required.
Compensation
