Basic Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology. Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.
Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country. GDMS has an immediate opening for an Engineering Intern to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associated with our core mission. Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated equipment.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and identify observable wear, damage, leaks, abnormal noises, or other operating issues.
- Support troubleshooting activities under supervision and assist in resolving equipment malfunctions.
- Replace basic components such as belts, filters, hoses, fittings, bearings, fasteners, sensors, and electrical components as directed.
- Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment safely and properly.
- Complete maintenance work orders, inspection checklists, service records, and parts usage documentation accurately and on time.
- Help maintain spare parts inventory and notify the appropriate personnel when replacement materials or supplies are needed.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment requirements, and housekeeping standards.
- Assist with equipment installation, relocation, calibration, and setup activities as assigned.
- Coordinate wit production, engineering, facilities, and other team members to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe maintenance work area.
- Participate in training, continuous improvement activities, and cross functional team efforts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skill Preferred:
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, maintenance procedures, equipment manuals, and basic drawings or schematics.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to enter maintenance information into a computerized maintenance management system or similar database.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established safety and quality requirements.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and willingness to learn troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to work independently on routine assignments and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Salary Note
