The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing and coordinating outgoing shipments of TRUMPF laser machines and automation units. This includes machine teardown, accessory preparation, packing, staging, shipping documentation, and loading equipment onto flatbed trailers. The role requires strong attention to detail, safe material-handling practices, and effective coordination with supervisors, start-up technicians, shipping personnel, and internal departments.
Key responsibilities
Perform the teardown of laser machines, including disconnecting hoses and cables and draining fluids in accordance with safety and work instructions.
Pull, verify, and pack accessory parts and prepare shipping crates or boxes.
Operate forklifts and overhead cranes with capacities of up to 20 tons, following all applicable safety procedures.
Process pick lists and shipping-related transactions in SAP.
Prepare, verify, and organize shipping paperwork and supporting documentation.
Stage machines, automation units, accessories, and materials for shipment.
Load equipment safely onto flatbed trailers and secure shipments as required.
Maintain and continuously improve the machine-teardown process, including both technical and organizational aspects.
Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, start-up technicians, shipping colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Investigate and resolve shipping issues in coordination with the appropriate internal departments.
Qualifications and requirements
Previous experience in shipping, logistics, material handling, machine teardown, or a related industrial environment preferred.
Previous experience with computerized shipping systems; SAP experience preferred.
Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail, particularly when handling paperwork and shipping documentation.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across multiple functions.
Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
Ability and willingness to operate power tools, including saws, hammers, drills, and related equipment.
Forklift certification and overhead-crane experience preferred.
Commitment to safe work practices and quality standards.
Schedule
Regular hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
