As one of the largest global security companies in the world, Northrop Grumman is proud to help our nation’s military personnel navigate their next chapter into civilian careers. Approximately 20% of Northrop Grumman’s 100,000 employees self-identify as veterans, and more than 2,000 are reservists.
The Northrop Grumman SkillBridge Program is an approved SkillBridge Program under U.S. Government Instruction 1322.29. The program is an opportunity for service members preparing for civilian careers to gain valuable civilian work experience during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The SkillBridge Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.
Responsibilities for SkillBridge Program participation are:
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – SkillBridge Program (SkillBridge) utilizing the U.S. Government guidance for SkillBridge. Through this program, the service-member will work on site with their host company, gaining experience in an entry to mid-level career path. The service member will receive on the job training while supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40 hours per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.
Goals – Provide separating service-members with job skills training in a professional setting during the final phase of their military service. This program is specifically designed to offer hands-on experience that result in the potential to convert to a full-time opportunity at the conclusion of the training. Participants will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.
Objectives - Service Members who complete the SkillBridge program will be highly trained and capable future employees who align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NGC mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides comprehensive hands-on experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NGC leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.
Outcome – Offer service members preparing for civilian careers a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.
SkillBridge Eligibility:
Has served at least 180 days on active duty.
Is within 12 months of separation or retirement.
Will receive an honorable discharge.
Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS.
Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months.
Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

Job Description:
The Financial Services Restricted Program Accounting team is looking for a motivated individual to join our team as an Accountant. This individual will serve as an integral team member in support of the Company's Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable services for classified programs and will interact and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.
This position can be filled in Falls Church, VA or in Redondo Beach, CA. Working remotely is NOT an option.
* All candidates MUST have active Secret SCI level clearance to support classified programsN/A.
Roles and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
Interface with internal customers on a daily basis.
Plan and process check runs for sensitive vendor payments within compliance of purchase order and invoice terms and per established department policies and procedures.
Prepare, review, and submit classified customer billings within compliance of contract terms and conditions and per established department policies and procedures.
Reconcile outstanding payables and aged receivables.
Monitor and report incoming/outgoing cash for classified government contracts, includes providing support for banking/treasury requirements.
Prepare & post general journal entries.
Provide support for multiple types of internal & external audits.
Participate in special projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Candidates will need to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills during our interview process and provide examples of how they have driven continued success by finding and communicating opportunities for efficiencies and demonstrated problem solving skills in their work experience. To be considered further, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or related field.
Applicants must have an active U.S. Government Secret level security clearance (at a minimum), to include a closed investigation date completed within the last 6 years, or must be enrolled in the U.S. Government Continuous Evaluation Program (CEP) in order to be considered; the required security clearance must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
Professional experience in Balance Sheet review/audit, Billings, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Reporting, Contract Administration, and Business Management.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite - specifically high-level Excel skills (including the ability to insert pivot tables, Vlookup, and conditional formatting, etc.); experience with Adobe Professional.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance.
Experience with SAP (ECC and/or S4).
Professional experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry (specifically government contracting), and within a Financial Services team.
