They are looking for skilled and detail-oriented Site Engineer to manage on-site construction activities for building projects. The successful candidates will oversee structural works, architectural finishes, and coordination with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) teams while ensuring compliance with project requirements, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Job Summary:
The Site Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day technical execution and supervision of construction activities on-site, ensuring that works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The role will supervise site teams and subcontractors, monitor progress, take measurements, prepare daily reports, and support the resolution of technical and construction-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and supervise construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Supervise daily site activities and coordinate construction crews, foremen, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Monitor the progress and quality of construction works and ensure they are completed according to project requirements.
- Read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings and ensure correct implementation on-site.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify that works comply with approved designs and specifications.
- Ensure proper workmanship and adherence to established quality control procedures.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements on-site.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers regarding daily work activities, materials, deliveries, and site requirements.
- Identify construction issues, discrepancies, and potential delays and escalate them to the Construction Manager or Project Engineer.
- Assist in resolving technical and site-related issues during construction.
- Take and verify site measurements, quantities, and completed works for progress monitoring and payment purposes.
- Prepare daily site reports, including manpower, activities completed, materials used, equipment, progress, and issues encountered.
- Maintain accurate records of site activities, inspections, measurements, drawings, and relevant documentation.
- Monitor the availability and proper use of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Coordinate with the Project Engineer and Construction Manager regarding work sequences, technical requirements, and site progress.
- Assist with inspections, testing, snagging, and rectification of construction works.
- Support project handover and close-out activities as required.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience as a Site Engineer within the construction industry, preferably in building construction.
- Proven experience working on building construction projects in a site-based engineering capacity.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of construction methods, materials, site procedures, and sequencing.
- Experience supervising subcontractors, construction workers, foremen, and site activities.
- Knowledge of construction quality control procedures and inspection requirements.
- Good understanding of HSE standards and safe construction practices.
- Experience preparing daily reports, measurements, quantity records, and progress updates.
- Strong technical problem-solving and site coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced construction environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working on construction projects in Nigeria or other African markets would be an advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline is preferred.
