Field Operations Intern (Seasonal) 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., schedule may vary

What You'll Do

You'll support City Utilities field operations by performing duties required to provide continued water service and/or sewer and stormwater services, such as skilled and unskilled labor using hand and power tools, operating heavy trucks, haul equipment and heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists with digging and backfilling excavations as directed;
• Assists with breaking and removing pavement using appropriate tools and equipment;
• Assists with repairs to roadways, sidewalks, and curbs;
• Assists with park strip cut restorations and site clean-up;
• Cleans, preps, and paints fire hydrants;
• Supports construction crews with assigned tasks and general labor duties;

What You Bring | Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and terrain
• Ability to use tools, equipment, and follow field procedures safely
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-first attitude
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and pass a post-offer agility test

Preferred Certifications

• Valid Indiana Driver's License

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Understand work processes, methods and use of equipment and machinery;
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and general public;
• Use Windows and iOS based software;
• Use work order management and GIS software proficiently while using a mobile data terminal;
