Department Overview

The Business Process Solutions Development Department (BSD) is a development organization that supports the diverse business operations and systems of the Rakuten Group by leveraging products, AI, and data. We provide the foundation to optimize complex business processes and accelerate business growth.

Within this department, our team specializes in the DX of "back-office operations" that underpin our E-commerce business. We are currently leading a new initiative to build a BPM (Business Process Management) solution and AI-driven applications, moving beyond simple digitalization to fundamentally transform how we operate.

Our mission is to partner closely with engineers to redefine complex E-commerce back-office operations through the power of our products. By integrating advanced workflow automation with AI-driven decision support, we are creating solutions that drastically improve operational efficiency and quality.

Why We Hire

As our E-commerce platforms continue to scale, the complexity of our back-office operations has outgrown legacy systems. Integrating BPM with AI-driven intelligence is now a high priority for our business growth. We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the development of our new BPM foundation and AI-driven applications. You will be expected to translate deep operational insights into tangible product solutions, bridging the gap between business needs and engineering possibilities.

　

Position Details

You will serve as a Product Manager responsible for product planning, problem definition, requirements gathering, development, and continuous improvement within the EC back-office domain. You will be expected to gain a deep understanding of business operations and collaborate with diverse stakeholders—including business units, engineers, and QA teams—to drive business transformation and operational efficiency through our products.

 

1) Product Ownership

・Lead the planning, development, and promotion of BPM solutions and AI-driven applications.

・Define roadmaps and prioritize backlogs based on business goals and operational strategies.

 

2) Requirements Analysis

・Identify "true" pain points through stakeholder interviews and operational observation.

・Analyze process data to identify bottlenecks and translate them into system requirements.

 

3) Solution Planning & Development

・Collaborate with engineering teams to balance technical feasibility with business value.

・Lead the implementation of generative AI and workflow automation features.

 

4) Stakeholder Management

・Act as a bridge between operational departments and engineering teams.

・Manage complex stakeholder relationships and report on progress, risks, and ROI to leadership.

 

5) Effectiveness & Improvement

・Monitor KPIs post-release and drive continuous improvements based on data and user feedback.

　

Work Environment

Mandatory Qualifications:

・3+ years of experience in product management or equivalent roles.

・Proven experience in gathering requirements, defining specifications, and identifying problems based on user/stakeholder feedback.

・Experience in translating business challenges into actionable solutions and driving projects forward.

・Experience collaborating with engineering teams to launch and develop products.

・Strong foundation in product planning and project management.

・Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

・Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to structure complex business processes.

・Proactive and collaborative mindset with a focus on self-driven problem identification.

・- Business-level proficiency or above in both Japanese and English

　

Desired Qualifications:

・Experience in developing enterprise products such as BPM, ERP, or CRM.

・Experience in planning and implementing products utilizing AI, Machine Learning, or Generative AI.

・Experience with data analysis (SQL, BI tools, etc.), KPI design, and effectiveness verification.

・Product management experience in E-commerce platforms or B2B SaaS.

・Experience in improving productivity through business process analysis.

・Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications.

・Experience in resource and progress management for projects.
