Position Summary

Accredo Packaging is seeking a proven, results-oriented Plant Manager to direct all end-to-end manufacturing operations at our Sugar Land facility. Reporting to Senior Executive Leadership, the Plant Manager holds full P&L ownership for plant operations and provides strategic oversight across a high-volume, 24/7/365 continuous manufacturing site.

This role leads a multi-departmental facility encompassing Blown Film Extrusion, Pre-Press/Flexo Printing, Lamination/Slitting/Pouch Converting, Logistics (Truck/Rail), and Maintenance. The ideal candidate is an operational leader who drives margin expansion through cost containment, waste reduction, labor optimization, and operational efficiency, while serving as a key ambassador during executive customer plant tours.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Financial Leadership (P&L Management)

• Full P&L Ownership: Manage the plant's operational budget, capital expenditures, labor costs, and material yield to meet target EBITDA and profit margin goals.
• Margin Optimization: Drive initiatives focused on scrap/waste reduction, labor efficiency, machine throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Cost Management: Control operational expenditures, optimize raw material usage, and manage staffing levels across four shift teams to maximize profitability.

Multi-Departmental Operational Execution

Drive operational excellence, schedule compliance, and high throughput across all plant divisions:

• Blown Film Extrusion: Oversee multi-layer film production, resin management, and die operations.
• Press & Graphics: Lead Pre-Press, plate preparation, graphics alignment, and high-speed flexographic press operations.
• Converting: Direct lamination (solventless/solvent-based), slitting, and high-speed pouch-making operations.
• Warehouse & Logistics: Manage raw material inbound shipments (via rail and truck), internal material staging, and outbound finished goods logistics (via truck).
• Maintenance & Engineering: Ensure maximum uptime by driving preventative maintenance (PM) schedules, continuous equipment improvements, and rapid reactive repairs.

Workforce & Shift Leadership

• Lead a 24/7/365 workforce structured on a 12-hour 2/3/2 rotating shift schedule across 4 shift teams.
• Mentor, coach, and develop department managers, engineers, supervisors, and shift leads to build a strong leadership pipeline.
• Build a culture of accountability, safety, high performance, and continuous learning on the shop floor.

Customer & Business Relations

• Serve as the primary plant host for executive customer visits, plant audits, and facility tours, showcasing Accredo’s state-of-the-art capabilities and sustainability initiatives.
• Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain SQF (Safe Quality Food) certifications and ensure zero-defect product standards.
• Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Sales, and Corporate HR to align plant capacity with customer forecasts and growth strategies.

Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Champion a plant-wide safety-first culture, driving compliance with OSHA, EPA, and internal safety policies.
• Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement frameworks to eliminate process bottlenecks and reduce scrap.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Required

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related technical discipline.
• Leadership Experience: Minimum 8–10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including at least 5 years as a Plant Manager, Operations Manager, or Director overseeing a complex manufacturing facility.
• P&L Management: Demonstrated experience managing a full plant operational P&L, driving margin improvements, and overseeing multi-million-dollar operational budgets.
• Continuous Operations: Direct leadership experience in a 24/7/365 continuous manufacturing environment (preferably 12-hour rotating shifts).
• Technical Industry Background: Deep operational knowledge in flexible packaging manufacturing, including blown film extrusion, flexographic printing, lamination, slitting, or pouch converting.

Preferred

• Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
• Experience in SQF, BRC, or food-contact packaging regulatory environments.
• Hands-on familiarity with railcar material unloading and resin distribution systems.
• Executive presentation skills with a history of successfully hosting customer tours and corporate audits.
