Job Description: Production Assets Systems Engineer

The Production Assets Systems Engineer is in charge of and responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and developing the control systems for the shipyard's production assets. These include, but are not limited to, CNC cutting and welding machines, the 3R pipe shop semi-automated line, the pretreatment semi-automated line, and all PLC systems.

The role ensures seamless integration, automation, reliability, and maintainability of production asset operations, working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and safety.

• Adhere to regulations and to quality, security, and safety standards.
• Prepare and negotiate large budgets, monitor spending, and control and track all aspects of equipment cost.
• Provide cost-effective techniques and solutions to achieve safe equipment operation, reliability, and availability.
• Understand and support the implementation of the Asset Management Policy, SAMP, and Asset Management System.
• Participate in developing and implementing maintenance policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with other departments and managers to ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
• Develop and implement standard work procedures to continually improve overall team productivity.
• Prepare and approve preventive maintenance and other plans, allocate work to the team, oversee progress, solve problems, and take corrective action when required.
• Lead and participate in formal and informal meetings and briefings.
• Oversee the development of maintenance teams, providing support, encouragement, advice, and guidance.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related field.

Professional Qualifications

• Experience with Siemens, FANUC, and OMRON control systems and industrial automation.
• IFS practical experience is a plus.
• Excellent computer skills.

Experience

• Minimum of 3–6 years of practical experience.
• Prior experience in shipyard automation assets and PLC control systems.
• Experience with Siemens, FANUC, and OMRON control systems.

Competencies

• Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting, configuration, and implementation of new PLC logic.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Siemens PLC.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of maritime safety regulations and compliance standards.

Languages

• Excellent English communication skills.
• Arabic is beneficial.
