GENERAL SUMMARY

Serve as Erie Federal Credit Union’s Purchase and Refinance Mortgage Professional. Provide five-star service to borrowers and realtors for real estate transactions.

Work directly with EFCU’s Mortgage Underwriting Department while developing and implementing process workflows and successful communication channels from branches, support center, real estate professionals, members and referrals.

Responsible for providing mortgage service information, develop relationships with Real Estate Agents, Settlement Agencies and other local mortgage professionals.

Resolve member and realtor issues and professionally manage daily mortgage consultation department needs/requests.

Responsible for facilitating the mortgage loan application by assisting borrowers from mortgage consultation to application, to processing, to closing.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provide members with information on available mortgage lending products and services via phone, email, mail and in person.
  2. Serve as EFCU’s Mortgage Consultant II, in addition
  3. Responsible for assisting all potential Mortgage Services Department leads sent through the Mortgage Consultation Service Session sent by Support Center, Branch Staff and employees of EFCU.
  4. Responsible for maintaining and coordinating the Mortgage Consultation Service Session pipeline, to ensure all Mortgage Leads are properly delegated to the appropriate venue for the lead.
  5. Assist members with inquiries on existing loan accounts, products and services, and perform necessary research for a resolution.
  6. Provide information to business owners about business loans. Gather pre- application information and forward to business loan officer.
  7. Assist members and real estate professionals with the mortgage loan application process to ensure completeness of information.
  8. Pull credit reports, verify debts, estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and add to debt application.
  9. Calculate debt to income ratios on loan applications.
  10. Determine real estate collateral needs and payments plans for members applying for loans.
  11. Responsible for reviewing mortgage loan applications and related documents before forwarding to processing/Mortgage Underwriting by pre-underwriting the support documentation provided.
  12. Work with EFCU’s Mortgage Underwriting Department for mortgage loan prequalification and preapproval origination.
  13. Responsible for reviewing and managing existing weekly application pipeline to maintain borrower’s commitment to EFCU’s Mortgage products. 
  14. Responsible for reviewing reasons for denial and explore options for members when loans are denied for potential future borrowing with Erie FCU
  15. Serve as credit counseling for applicants denied for credit history; or applicants needed to establish credit to qualify for mortgage loans.
  16. Provide information about the PHFA PENNVEST mortgage loan program. Assist members with the application process to initiate a mortgage loan.  Serve as liaison between the member and loan underwriters through the closing process, disseminating information and providing required documentation.
  17. Attend mortgage lending education events, realtor events and homebuying seminars.
  18. Attend local real estate agent offices to present EFCU’s mortgage products.
  19. Develop and maintain relationships with realtors and other local real estate professionals by attending outside events in order to foster connections; while assisting EFCU’s marketing team.
  20. Assist in developing mortgage programs with EFCU’s Mortgage Consultation Manager.
  21. Responsible for working with, assisting and training Mortgage Consultant I, to ensure understanding of documents, policy/procedures and regulations.  Serving as a mentor to Mortgage Consultant I.
  22. Cross-sell credit union products and services.
  23. Meet established EFCU Mortgage lending goals.
  24. Work hand in hand with borrowers by explaining and educating on the entire mortgage loan process – included but not limited to explaining and reviewing terms, payments, etc
  25. Meet established time sensitive dates such as settlement dates, commitment dates, etc. to ensure a smooth mortgage transaction for EFCU borrowers.
  26. Research and provide information to members on all existing mortgage products offered by EFCU/First Heritage Financial.
  27. Prepare Special and recurring reports relating to lending activity at the Credit Union.
  28. Maintain current knowledge of all Credit Union policies and procedures, including compliance with federal laws and regulations as set forth by the NCUA and other regulatory agencies.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for communicating with members, co-workers and other individuals involved in the mortgage lending process.
  2. Requires knowledge of the Credit Union policies, procedures, products and services.
  3. Requires thorough knowledge of the Credit Union's lending mortgage functions.
  4. Requires knowledge of laws and regulations governing mortgage lending.
  5. Requires a self-sufficient, driven and independently motivated individual with strong time management skills.
  6. Requires strong sales skills in order to meet and cultivate mortgage service goals.
  7. Requires completion of high school education or GED.
  8. Requires one year to three years of similar or related experience. Lending or services function of a financial institution preferred.
  9. Must meet financial responsibility, character and general fitness of the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (S.A.F.E. Act).
  10. Requires PC proficiency and knowledge of Office Suite.
  11. Requires proficiency and knowledge in the credit union mortgage LOS system.
  12. Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.)
  13. Must meet all Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) Federal Registry requirements.
