Lead Inspector - Pipe Mill

Job Summary

PPI Quality & Engineering is a global provider of quality assurance and inspection services supporting the energy industry. We are expanding our Quality Control team and are looking for an experienced Floor Inspector to support a major Pipe Mill project in Thisvi, Greece. The position is part of a project currently planned for approximately 6 months, with the initial assignment planned for the end of October.

About the role

IMPORTANT: Candidates living locally or in the surrounding area of Thisvi, Greece, will be given priority.A valid European Union work visa / authorization to work in the EU is mandatory for this position.

 

As Lead Inspector, you will provide quality leadership and oversight across the pipe manufacturing process, ensuring that inspection activities, quality documentation, data analysis and production processes are performed in accordance with API 5L, project specifications, applicable industry standards, and PPI Quality & Engineering procedures.

You will work closely with Floor Inspectors, production teams and project stakeholders, providing technical guidance, reviewing quality data, identifying trends and supporting effective troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Inspector will provide oversight and support in the following areas:

• Process Quality Assurance (QA) throughout the Pipe Mill operations• Review and management of inspection reports, quality documentation and paperwork• Data review, analysis and trending to identify quality issues and improvement opportunities• Technical troubleshooting and resolution of quality-related issues• Provide guidance, coordination and coverage support for Floor Inspectors• Monitor inspection activities and ensure consistency in quality execution• Coating Mill oversight, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements and project specifications• Communicate quality performance, inspection findings and trends to project coordinators and relevant stakeholders• Support the implementation of corrective actions and continuous quality improvement initiatives• Promote safe working practices and maintain a strong culture of quality, accountability and operational excellence

The ideal candidate should have:

• Proven experience as a Lead Inspector / Senior QC Inspector in a Pipe Mill environment• Strong practical knowledge and experience with API 5L (mandatory)• Extensive experience in pipe manufacturing and fabrication processes• Strong understanding of quality assurance, inspection and testing requirements• Experience reviewing quality data, identifying trends and supporting troubleshooting activities• Ability to provide effective technical guidance to Floor Inspectors and inspection teams• Experience with coating operations / Coating Mill oversight is highly desirable• Strong reporting, documentation and communication skills• Ability to work independently, prioritize quality issues and make sound technical decisions• Strong attention to detail, accountability and commitment to operational excellence
