Position Overview

The ENGINE Supply & Trading Digital Platform Lead is a senior technology leadership role responsible for building, leading, and scaling Chevron's Supply & Trading technology capability within ENGINE. This leader will establish and lead a high-performing organization supporting business-critical digital platforms and applications across Trading, Scheduling, Risk, Credit, Compliance, Logistics, and Commodity Supply Chain operations. The role combines digital platform leadership, business partnership, technology strategy, software engineering, operational excellence, and organizational capability building. The successful candidate will serve as the strategic technology partner to Chevron's global Supply & Trading organization and will be responsible for delivering reliable, secure, scalable, and innovative digital solutions while building sustainable trading technology capability within ENGINE. The role requires close collaboration with business leaders, product managers, platform teams, architects, vendors, and global delivery organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Platform Leadership

  • Lead the Supply & Trading Digital Platform organization within ENGINE.

  • Define and execute the technology vision, operating model, and strategic roadmap for the platform.

  • Establish organizational capabilities, talent strategies, and long-term succession plans.

  • Drive alignment between business priorities, product roadmaps, and technology investments.

  • Build a culture focused on operational excellence, customer value, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Supply & Trading Technology Leadership

  • Provide leadership across the end-to-end trading ecosystem spanning Trade Capture, Scheduling, Risk Management, Credit, Compliance, Logistics, Settlement, and Finance.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate strategic initiatives into scalable digital solutions.

  • Drive modernization and enhancement of commodity trading and risk management platforms.

  • Establish technology standards, architecture practices, and platform governance.

  • Ensure alignment between technology strategy and evolving business priorities.

Product Delivery & Engineering Excellence

  • Lead large-scale software delivery programs supporting Supply & Trading business objectives.

  • Drive adoption of modern software engineering, Agile, DevSecOps, cloud, and automation practices.

  • Champion platform modernization, API-first integration strategies, data enablement, and AI-enabled engineering practices.

  • Ensure delivery excellence through effective planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Establish engineering metrics and continuous improvement programs to improve quality, productivity, and customer outcomes.

Technology Operations & Service Reliability

  • Accountable for application reliability, resiliency, security, compliance, and operational performance.

  • Lead incident, problem, change, release, and service management processes.

  • Ensure business continuity, disaster recovery readiness, and operational risk mitigation.

  • Drive observability, monitoring, automation, and service quality improvements.

  • Establish and manage service level objectives, operational metrics, and performance reporting.

Organizational & People Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing global organization consisting of managers, architects, engineers, product professionals, and technology specialists.

  • Recruit, develop, coach, and mentor future leaders and technical talent.

  • Foster collaboration across global teams, partner organizations, and business stakeholders.

  • Develop organizational capabilities to enable sustainable long-term support and growth of the Supply & Trading technology portfolio.

  • Create an inclusive, engaging, and performance-oriented culture focused on learning and innovation.

Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and IT leadership teams.

  • Partner closely with Supply & Trading functional leaders, product managers, and delivery organizations.

  • Influence strategic technology decisions and investment priorities.

  • Manage relationships with external suppliers, consulting partners, and managed service providers.

  • Drive collaboration across Chevron's global technology ecosystem and Technical Delivery Centers.

Financial & Portfolio Leadership

  • Manage technology investments and resource planning for the Supply & Trading portfolio.

  • Ensure effective prioritization of work to maximize business value.

  • Balance innovation, operational excellence, and financial stewardship.

  • Develop and maintain portfolio roadmaps aligned with business outcomes and technology strategy.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience with increasing responsibility.

  • Deep understanding of Supply & Trading business processes and digital enablement.

  • Experience supporting Trading, Scheduling, Risk, Credit, Compliance, Logistics, and Commodity Supply Chain workflows.

  • Strong experience leading large application portfolios and globally distributed delivery organizations.

  • Experience with enterprise software delivery, application modernization, cloud technologies, systems integration, cybersecurity, and platform operations.

  • Strong leadership experience building and leading managers, architects, engineers, and technical specialists.

  • Demonstrated success managing complex stakeholder environments and influencing senior leaders.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) and Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) platforms such as Endur, RightAngle, Allegro, or equivalent solutions.

  • Experience supporting LNG, Natural Gas, Refined Products, or broader Energy Trading businesses.

  • Experience leading digital platform or product-based organizations.

  • Strong understanding of Azure cloud technologies and modern engineering practices.

  • Knowledge of risk management, credit, compliance, scheduling, and trading operations.

  • Experience building large-scale technology capabilities within global organizations.

  • Agile, SAFe, ITIL, Product Management, or related certifications.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm
