Compensation: $31.75 - $39.50 / hour
Description
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Assistant Engineer working as a Hydraulics/Hydrology Engineer in our Water Resources’ Flood and Drainage group. The position entails performing civil technical analyses, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, project scheduling, site inspections, storm drain design, and construction cost estimating. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in flood control, hydrology, hydraulics, and climate resilience, and is driven, quick with learning tools and technology, and has a great “can-do” attitude.
This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.
A day in the life as a Wood Rodgers' Assistant Engineer
- Performing as a member of an interdisciplinary modeling team managed by a Senior Level Project Engineer.
- Performing field investigations as part of a team to visually inspect, measure, photograph, and document storm drainage facilities.
- Preparing technical analyses for a wide array of projects in both the Private and Public sectors.
- Perform Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analyses in various software.
- Preparing Technical Reports, Maps, and Presentations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and collaborate within a team setting.
- Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM, XP-SWMM, and/or other H&H modeling programs is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Preferred proficiency in GIS and CAD software with solid working knowledge of their practical applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- 0 to 2 years of relevant experience, with a solid understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods.
- E.I.T certification and plan to obtain Professional Registration at earliest opportunity.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Interest in engagement in industry-related professional organizations.
- Ability to work in office at minimum 3 days per week.

Offers will be based on several factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, training, and location. Base pay is just one part of the comprehensive compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers.
