The role provides strong operational and people leadership, balancing team workload and resources to ensure project requirements, Purchasing priorities and Sourcing commitments are effectively aligned and delivered.

The position requires an experienced procurement professional with a proven track record of resolving complex supply challenges, strong commercial and negotiation capability, and the ability to understand the wider business impact of procurement decisions. The role acts as a key interface between Project stakeholders, Purchasing, Sourcing and suppliers, ensuring issues are addressed collaboratively while maintaining focus on project schedule, cost, quality and overall business objectives.

The Project Procurement Team Leader is responsible for creating an environment in which the team can perform effectively, develop professionally and work collaboratively. The role leads by example, demonstrating the GE Vernova Way through day-to-day behaviours, decision-making, accountability and partnership across the organisation.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage and balance workload, priorities and resources across buyers, multiple locations and projects to support effective procurement execution and changing business requirements.
  • Establish clear ownership and accountability within the team while providing appropriate support, coaching and guidance to enable successful delivery.
  • Drive procurement performance through relevant KPIs, using data to identify risks, priorities, performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure effective execution of the operational buying process, including Purchase Order placement, acknowledgement, follow-up, supplier execution, schedule management and ERP accuracy.
  • Maintain oversight of critical supply issues and provide leadership and escalation support where supplier performance or material availability threatens project commitments.
  • Act as a skilled mediator in complex supply situations, bringing together suppliers, buyers, Project teams, Sourcing and other stakeholders to establish practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Manage supply roadblocks reducing the risk to the other teams/projects.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers, supporting the team in negotiations, escalations and resolution of commercial and operational issues.
  • Successfully coordinate priorities between Project stakeholders, Purchasing and Sourcing, ensuring procurement activities remain aligned with project requirements, sourcing strategies and business deadlines.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of key business and project drivers and use this knowledge to prioritise team activities and make informed procurement decisions.
  • Understand how PP10 activities integrate with other Procurement, Sourcing, Project and operational teams and ensure effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Anticipate potential supply, capacity, schedule and resource constraints and ensure appropriate mitigation and escalation actions are implemented.
  • Support team members in resolving complex procurement and supplier issues, using professional judgement, analytical thinking and available internal expertise to reach effective decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team, challenging inefficient ways of working and supporting the development of simpler, more effective and standardised processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable GE Vernova policies, procedures, sourcing requirements and procurement governance.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and capability development across the team, supporting both experienced buyers and colleagues developing within their roles.
  • Foster a healthy, respectful, inclusive and collaborative working environment where individuals feel supported, accountable and empowered to contribute.
