Manufacturing Engineer

 

The manufacturing engineer supports production cells and manufacturing workflows related to product flow, process documentation, equipment, and early-stage Design for Manufacturability (DFM). Working with guidance from experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, this role helps improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and repeatability. The manufacturing engineer also supports plant layout, process flow, new product introduction, continuous improvement, and troubleshooting of assigned manufacturing issues.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Support evaluation of product and manufacturing process flow to identify opportunities for improved safety, quality, and efficiency.

· Assist with developing new manufacturing processes and improving existing processes to meet safety, quality, environmental, and production requirements.

· Review product designs with experienced engineers and provide manufacturing feedback, including basic DFM considerations.

· Collect and analyze manufacturing data, including cycle time, scrap, process capability, and other performance measures.

· Evaluate machinery, tooling, fixtures, and work methods with guidance to confirm they are suitable for the intended task.

· Support trials, testing, and implementation of new equipment or processes under real-world production conditions.

· Work with Safety, Production, Quality, Design, and other groups to complete assigned projects and support new product introduction.

· Create and update Standard Work, Work Instructions, process documentation, and other manufacturing control documents as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

· Demonstrate a continuous improvement and quality-focused mindset.

· Ability to work effectively with Safety, Production, Quality, Design, and other cross-functional teams.

· Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple assigned tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Basic understanding of manufacturing techniques such as milling, turning, grinding, heat treatment, and assembly processes.

· Ability to apply foundational engineering principles to practical manufacturing problems with sound analytical thinking.

· Self-motivated, willing to learn, and able to work independently after appropriate training while seeking guidance when needed.

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and basic GD&T.

· Ability to create or revise control documents such as Standard Work and Visual Work Instructions with guidance.

· Basic understanding of manufacturing data analysis and process capability concepts, or the ability to learn them.

· Good organizational and computer skills.

· Basic project coordination skills and the ability to communicate clearly with operators, technicians, engineers, and leadership.

· Strong written communication skills for documenting procedures, findings, instructions, and project updates.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Exposure to SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other design applications is preferred.

· Ability to handle multiple tasks, follow priorities, and meet assigned deadlines.

· Ability to travel as necessary.

Potential long-term support for RotoMetrics and other Maxcess sites, with travel assignments of up to three weeks per month may be necessary.
