What this job involves:

As a Plumber/Pipefitter on our 2nd shift operations team, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the safety, efficiency, and reliability of building water and steam systems. This position combines technical expertise with hands-on problem-solving to ensure our client facilities operate at peak performance. You'll oversee complex building infrastructure, lead preventative and corrective maintenance initiatives, and respond to both routine and emergency situations. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced building systems while collaborating with a dedicated team committed to operational excellence. If you're a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in maintaining critical infrastructure and thrives in a dynamic environment, this position provides a platform to showcase your expertise and grow your career with a global leader in facilities management.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Oversee operation, repair, preventative maintenance, and installation of piping, valves, and plumbing systems related to building steam and water infrastructure, determining optimal maintenance frequencies and repair schedules.

  • Monitor and maintain heating and cooling valves, water cooling equipment, boilers (within specified pressure parameters), heating and hot water systems, pumps, valves, piping, and filtration equipment to ensure continuous operation.

  • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment through troubleshooting and system analysis, determining corrective actions required to restore equipment to satisfactory operating condition while minimizing downtime.

  • Coordinate directly with client representatives and work order requestors to understand operational needs, communicate repair timelines, and schedule maintenance within appropriate operational windows.

  • Prioritize and manage all preventative maintenance tasks, corrective work orders, and emergency repairs for the site across annual, monthly, weekly, and daily schedules to maintain operational continuity.

  • Review operational logs and system performance data to identify potential issues, ensure proper equipment function, and report problems or malfunctions promptly to appropriate stakeholders.

  • Participate in the on-call rotation with site technicians, responding to emergency situations and providing after-hours support as needed to maintain facility operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent credential required.

  • Completion of trades schooling, technical training, or vocational education program in plumbing, pipefitting, or related mechanical trades.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in plumbing, pipefitting, or building mechanical systems maintenance in commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities.

  • Demonstrated technical expertise with water treatment systems, steam systems, HVAC components, and building infrastructure with ability to recognize system shortcomings and troubleshoot operational issues.

  • Physical capability to frequently lift 50+ pounds and safely perform bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and turning movements throughout the workday.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to clearly convey technical information in both oral discussions and written reports to diverse audiences.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if applicable to site requirements).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work order management software for tracking repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.

  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and understanding of how mechanical systems integrate with facility control systems.

  • Basic knowledge of hazardous materials handling, storage requirements, and proper disposal procedures in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.

  • Previous experience working in healthcare, pharmaceutical, educational, or other mission-critical facility environments.

  • Welding, brazing, or specialized pipe joining certifications that expand capabilities for complex system repairs.
