Job Description:
The Carrier Relations Supervisor (Senior IT Supervisor) at UPS Healthcare is heavily involved in Transportation Management Systems (TMS), EDI integrations, carrier onboarding, production support, business testing/UAT, transportation technology support, and cross-functional operations.
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing transportation technology solutions that support logistics, carrier management, shipment visibility, and operational execution. This role serves as the primary liaison between Operations, IT, vendors, carriers, and business stakeholders to ensure transportation systems, integrations, and supporting applications function efficiently and align with business objectives.
The position provides leadership for system enhancements, production support, EDI integrations, carrier onboarding, user acceptance testing (UAT), issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives across transportation and healthcare logistics operations
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Systems Management
Support and maintain Transportation Management System (TMS) functionality and related logistics applications.
Analyze and resolve system issues impacting transportation operations, carrier execution, and customer service.
Collaborate with transportation operations teams to optimize workflows and improve system performance.
Provide subject matter expertise on transportation technology platforms and integration capabilities.
EDI and Systems Integration
Manage carrier EDI onboarding and integration initiatives.
Coordinate implementation of EDI transaction sets including shipment status, invoicing, and milestone visibility.
Partner with internal development teams, vendors, and carriers to troubleshoot integration issues and ensure successful production deployment.
Monitor system connectivity and data quality across transportation platforms.
Testing and Change Management
Develop and execute System Integration Testing (SIT and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans.
Validate system enhancements and provide formal production signoff.
Document business requirements, test results, and deployment readiness.
Support release management and implementation activities.
Operational Support and Problem Resolution
Investigate transportation-related incidents and coordinate corrective actions.
Support customers, transportation coordinators, warehouse operations, and carrier partners with complex system issues.
Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
Ensure service levels and operational KPIs are maintained.
Vendor and Carrier Relationship Management
Serve as a primary technology contact for external transportation providers and system vendors.
Coordinate technical implementations and data exchange requirements.
Facilitate issue resolution between UPS teams and external partners.
Monitor carrier technology performance and compliance with integration standards.
Leadership and Team Collaboration
Lead cross-functional meetings involving Operations, IT, Transportation, Finance, and external partners.
Mentor analysts and support personnel.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase operational efficiency and system reliability.
Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to management.
Qualifications:
-Required
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience supporting transportation systems, logistics applications, or supply chain technology.
Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
Experience with Systems Integration Management.
Project Management or Lean/Six Sigma experience.
Experience supporting EDI integrations and carrier connectivity.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
Experience leading testing, implementation, and production support activities.
-Preferred
Healthcare logistics experience.
MercuryGate, FourKites, or shipment visibility platform experience.
Knowledge of WMS, SAP and Middleware.
Knowledge of EDI transaction sets (204, 210, 214, etc.).
Experience supervising technical or business systems teams.
Additional Criteria:
Job Grade: 20D
Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to self-relocate – Required.
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm EST.
