Description
Key Responsibilities
- Machine low-tolerance parts utilizing standard machine tools, including manual engine lathes and manual milling machines.
- Set up and operate machine tools to produce precision parts, instruments, and components.
- Produce parts from engineering drawings, blueprints, and prints while interpreting geometric tolerances and specifications.
- Verify the quality of finished work using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
- Meet production goals relating to efficiency, schedules, scrap reduction, and rework prevention.
- Clean, maintain, and assist in the repair of equipment and machine tools while maintaining an organized workspace.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and inventory personnel to resolve problems, communicate work-in-progress status, and support repair activities.
- Record accurate and timely data using computer-based systems and manual logs.
- Apply knowledge of tooling design concepts, equipment applications, machining procedures, mechanics, mathematics, and metal properties.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to support operational excellence.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 5+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment operating manual engine lathes and manual milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and geometric tolerances.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, depth gauges, and similar inspection tools.
- Ability to communicate clearly, understand instructions, and read work instructions in English.
- Demonstrated track record of reliability, dependability, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive arm motions, and frequently lift materials, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends on short notice as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC lathes and CNC milling machines.
- ESPRIT CAD/CAM experience.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work effectively.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and manufacturing safety standards.
- Effective verbal communication and teamwork skills.
