Payroll Analyst

A Day in the Life
We are looking a Payroll Analyst to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience managing end-to-end India payroll operations. This role is responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, maintaining a positive employee experience, and driving continuous process improvements. The Payroll Analyst will also support payroll-related accounting activities, including reconciliations, payroll compliance documentation, audit support and management reporting. This position will be based in our Pune office.
Key Requirements & Responsibilities
- Own and manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for India employees, including the preparation, validation, and review of payroll inputs & reports.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of payroll processing in compliance with applicable statutory requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll, tax computation, and statutory queries, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Develop and maintain payroll reconciliation controls, audit schedules & statutory documentation.
- Support Payroll-related accounting activities, including GL reconciliations, variance reviews, and month-end reporting.
- Identify process gaps, operational risks, and inefficiencies, and drive initiatives focused on process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Stay update on payroll legislation, taxation changes, and payroll statutory compliance requirements to ensure ongoing adherence to regulations.
Qualifications:
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience managing India payroll operations, including payroll compliance, taxation, and payroll accounting support.
- Strong working knowledge of payroll tools such as Paysquare, Rippling, Workday, or similar HRMS/ERP platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll and taxation matters clearly and professionally to employees and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors to ensure accurate employee data management, statutory compliance, and timely payroll delivery.
- Good accounting knowledge with exposure to global payroll will be highly preferred.
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in commerce (B.Com/M.Com), MBA, or equivalent qualification.
